Whole school event. Starting with an assembly about the importance of Children in Need. Children then engaged in various activities throughout the day, exploring the importance and impact the charity has. We raised a fantastic £250.
Active: Article 1 Everyone under the age of 18 has rights.
Primary 6/7 presented an assembly on Remembrance Day. Explaining the importance of remembering and appreciating the brave men and women who sacrificed so much to ensure people enjoy the rights and freedoms they have today.
Respected: Article 4 Governments have a responsibility to protect people’s rights.
Woodlands Primary school became the home of the toddler group Woodlands Tots. This group will engage parents and families with School and nursery life and help mothers find support in the community.
Nurtured: Article 15 A group established by volunteers to bring new mums and dads together and to enable them to get to share experiences get to know the school and school staff.
The Pupil Action Group looked at the school improvement plan. They considered how it impacted on the children and presented their findings to their peers. Explaining to children that their participation in school can have the largest impact on their learning journey.
Active: Article 29 The children at Woodlands Primary School understand that within school time children have the right t rest play and engage with work that will help them reach their potential.
Woodlands Primary School hosted a MacMillan coffee morning on Friday the 30th September. Primary Sevens helped serve parents and others from the community. We raised a whopping £506.
Responsible: Article 29 Children have developed their respect for others who are going through treatment programmes or bereavements due to disease.
Our Parent Council organised a great Fun Day for the whole school community – it was a great way to bring the community together. The event raised £487.90!
Included: Article 3 – Adults making decisions for children enabling good choices that affect children.
Today boys and girls in P6/7 and P7 created our very first editions of our Rights Respecting Schools comic ‘The Adventures of Wendy and Woodlands!’
