Meeting on 18.01.16

Today we had a meeting and discussed the following:

The Pupil Action Group revisited their role in the school. The PAG decided their role can be split into three sections. The PAG:

  1. Promote children’s rights within Woodlands and the community through assemblies and events
  2. Represent their peers and bring their thoughts and ideas to the PAG meetings
  3. Ensure the rights of all children in Woodlands are being promoted and respected

The Pupil Action Group have been approached by the Rights Respecting Committee at Balmalloch Primary who would like to work with them to help Balmalloch achieve their Level 2 award. The PAG are very excited about this and this meeting wil take place in Woodlands on Monday 15th February at 9.30am

Next Meeting: Thursday 11th February 2016 at 9.30am

For this next meeting children will think of a local business we could approach as a sponsor and what we could ask them for when sponsoring the use of the Kid Power bands.

Meeting On Tuesday 15th December 2015

Today we had a meeting and discussed the following:

  1. Two classes will be a part of a pilot for Unicef’s Kid Power project. It is very exciting and children will have the chance to get active and help bring children out of malnutrition at the same time. After the trial we are allowed to keep the tracking ‘watches’ so other classes will get a chance to use them later in the school year!
  2. The Pupil Action Group would like to trail at this year’s Valentine’s Disco one joint disco that all children can attend at the same time. They feel it is a great chance to have a disco with younger friends and relatives and also to play games together. Mr McCrorie will feed back this decision to the Parent Council at their next meeting.
  3. We will begin work on our RRSA comic in January 2016

Next Meeting: Wednesday 20th January 2016 at 9.30am

Meeting on Tuesday 17th November 2015

Today the Pupil Action Group met and discussed and decided the following points:

1. The PAG assembly on Comic Relief day went really well and the PAG would like to do more of these. The PAG and Mr McCrorie will plan the next one and present it along with our first comic before Christmas.

2. The PAG looked through the school’s ideas for a Rights comic and decided upon 10 ideas they would like to see turned into comics.

3. Ava, Katie and Niomi will work with Mr McCrorie over the next few weeks to create the first edition of the school’s Rights Respecting Schools comic.

4. Ruben will work with Mr McCrorie to post relevant information on this blog over the next few weeks.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 15th December at 9.30am. Please feel free to comment on this post in the meantime if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Our Meeting 27.10.15

Today was our first proper meeting as the Pupil Action Group. We have decided to do some exciting things over the next few months to promote rights within our school and community.

  1. The PAG will hold an assembly on Friday 13th November about how Children in Need support children’s rights.
  2. There will be an activity day on Friday 13th November linked to rights and Children in Need.
  3. Mr McCrorie will organise a rota for children to ‘guest blog’ on this page.
  4. Three pupils will work with Mr McCrorie over the next few weeks tom produce our first Rights themed comics featuring our mascots, Rover the rights respecting golden retriever and Wendy Woodlands. Mr McCrorie hopes this will go viral-watch this space!

We will be meeting again on Tuesday 17th November at 11am

Welcome to the Pupil Action Group Blog! We had our first meeting last week and we are all really excited to be a part of this year’s PAG.

Instead of minutes on the website we will blog what we have been working on here. If boys and girls have any ideas or ways to improve our school they can comment on one of the posts within this blog.

We look forward to being your Pupil Action Group and promoter of Children’s Rights this year!
