Lessons From Auschwitz Programme

Any Senior Phase pupils interested in participating in the Lessons from Auschwitz Programme and possibly going to Poland later this year, should see Mr McPake, Social Subjects Department, as soon as possible.

The programme is run by the Holocaust Educational Trust and consists of an orientation session followed by a visit to Poland to visit Auschwitz.  After the visit there is an opportunity to reflect on the visit and the contemporary relevance of the lessons of the Holocaust. Finally students who attend, with the support of their teachers, seek to spread the lessons via assemblies.

Taylor High School Prom 2016

The prom will be taking place at the Radstone Hotel, Larkhall, on Friday the 3rd of June. All students attending the prom will travel on official buses leaving Taylor High School at 6pm sharp returning from the Radstone Hotel at 12midnight, arriving at Taylor High school around 12.30am. All students must arrive, and leave, on the organised transport in order for the evening to run as smooth as possible.

As the function will be a school event, the sale of alcohol to students at the venue will not be permitted.

We look forward to a great night celebrating their final year with our outgoing Sixth Year and also looking forward to next session with those students from Fifth Year who  attend.  A number of not-too-serious awards will be presented during the course of the evening which we are sure will be another memorable evening!

More information about the venue can be found at:

Scottish Youth Parliament By-election – June 2016

The local MSYP Ciara Fullerton has stepped down and, consequently, there will be a by-election for the Motherwell and Wishaw constituency of the Scottish Youth Parliament.

This will occur in June with voting taking place between Friday 10th June and Thursday 16th June 2016. The candidate elected will hold the post for a year until the next official Scottish Youth Parliament elections in 2017.

The election will use the first-past-the-post voting system rather than the usual proportional representation system because it is a by-election seeking to elect a single candidate.

Any pupil aged 14 or over who is interested in standing for election to represent Motherwell and Wishaw in the SYP should see Miss Stoutjesdyk, Principal Teacher of Social Subjects, as soon as possible.
