Academic Year 2018-2019

Welcome to the new academic year which begins for pupils on Thursday 16th August 2018.

The senior management structure consists of Mr Forbes – Head Teacher, Mr Robertson – Depute Head Teacher and three Principal Teachers – Miss Walsh, Mrs Hannaway and Mr Fawcett.  However as you may know, we are using part of our Pupil Equity Funding to continue to alter our management structure this year. Therefore Mrs Hannaway will be continuing to undertake an Acting Depute Role this year with a focus on closing the attainment gap and Mrs Rigg will be continuing to undertake an acting principal teacher this year.

There will be a few faces missing from the staff. We say goodbye to Mrs Tumilty, Miss Fern and Miss McBlaine.

We welcome a few new faces also – Miss Kerr who will be teaching P2 and Miss Hughes who will be teaching P6.

Health Week and Sports Day 2018

PSDRING             milkandwater           psdskipping

Health Week will take place from Monday 11th – Friday 15th of June.

Children will take part in a number of indoor and outdoor fun health related activities throughout the week.

Children should come dressed to school in appropriate sports clothes consisting of t-shirt, shorts, jogging suit and trainers. No jewellery please. We ask that children dress appropriately for the Scottish weather – i.e. sun hat, sunscreen (if we see this promised sun!!!) or waterproof jacket (probably more appropriate!) and bring a bottle of water.

Our annual Sports Day will take place on Friday 15th June at 9:30am for P1-P7 (weather permitting). We hope to be finished by 11:30am. Parents are invited to watch the events, sitting on the hill between the football pitch and high school.

There will be no charge for these events but we are asking for a contribution for our Summer Day tombola. Please can you bring these during Health week.

P1 -3 a prize suitable for a kid’s tombola i.e. packet of sweets, small toy

P4-7 a prize suitable for an adult’s tombola i.e. box of chocolates, toiletries etc

Thank you for your continued support.

New Online Booking for Parents’ Evening March 2018

We have organised a new online booking system for our parents’ evenings.  This will allow parents to log on and book their own appointment.  Parents Evening will take place on Wednesday 28th March 2018.

Go to http://www.parents-booking.co.uk/sttimothysps

PLEASE NOTE: You need to type this address into your website browser’s ‘address bar’ or copy and paste the above address into your browser. Do not try to ‘Google’ this website address or click on the link above. This is a common mistake on phones and tablets especially.

Login to see which appointments are available and select one that is convenient for you.  If you have more than one child in the school we cannot stress enough that you go on swiftly to assure you get appointment slots together. Office staff can no longer make appointments. There will only be one appointment per child available.

You will need:

  • Your title and surname (these must match those we have on record for you)
  • Your child’s first name, surname and date of birth

The system will be available to take bookings from 19th March at 7pm and will be open to take your bookings until 27th March at 9pm.

Once you have logged in, we suggest you use the ‘Automated Booking Wizard’ to make your appointments. You will be shown your child/children and their teachers, and asked to enter your availability. Our wizard will use this information to calculate the best order for your appointments, allowing you to navigate the teachers in the quickest and most efficient manner.

Troubleshooting Tips – please read before booking!

  • To login you need to enter the details we have on record for you and your child. If you have recently changed your title or surname, for example, and not informed us, we will be expecting you to login with the details we have on record
  • The email address you enter is only used to receive a confirmation of your appointment. If the system gives you an error when you login, it will not be the email address that is the problem
  • If you have several children to make bookings for, and decide not to use the Booking Wizard, but instead make appointments individually, use the ‘Change Child’ button on the blue bar (above the school’s name) in the very top left corner of the Parent’s Booking Page to swap between your children

Peanut/Nut/Lentil allergy

A child will be starting nursery who has a severe food allergy to peanuts/nuts/lentils. This child will be working in the school building as well as the nursery building. Therefore, it is important that there is strict avoidance to this food in order to prevent a life-threatening allergic reaction. We are asking your help to provide this child with a safe school environment.

Any exposure to peanuts/nuts may cause a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment. To reduce the chance of this occurring, we are asking that you DO NOT SEND any products containing peanuts/nuts (including Nutella) for your child to be eaten at school. If your child has eaten peanuts/nuts before coming to school, please ensure your child’s hands and face have been thoroughly washed before entering school.

We appreciate your support of these procedures. Please contact Mr Forbes if you have any concerns.

Useful app – help your child to read.

Please see the following app which is free to download (for a week) and is suitable for children in the first stages of learning to read, or for older children who need a bit more practice.

Hi there,

Our Bafta-nominated Teach Your Monster to Read app is free for teachers to download on all app stores from today until this Sunday (4th March).

The game, developed by The Usborne Foundation, has now been played over 40 million times and helped over 4.5 million children learn to read!

The app includes all 3 of our games (over 16 hours of phonics learning). It has been designed in collaboration with leading academics at the University of Roehampton and complements all synthetic phonics programmes used in schools.

Download the app this week for free, plus there’s nothing to pay after the free period ends.

Hurry, the free period ends this Sunday!

Enjoy!
