Primary 7, Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Primary 7. I hope you all had a great holiday. The children are looking very smart in their uniforms and are wearing their new Primary 7 ties with pride. They have made an excellent start to the year in helping guide the new Primary One children through their first few days. We have had a great 10 days getting to know each other as a class. This has included lots of discussions around our Class Charter which is almost ready and around how we would like the classroom to work. We have elected two Pupil Council members and they have already attended their first meeting with Mr Forbes.  We have also begun our modelling block for our Novel Study and taken part in Number Talks and some Maths problem solving activities.

P.E.

P.E. days are on Thursday and Friday. Please ensure that your child has P.E. kit for these days. P.E. kit is a white T-shirt with shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms. Remember that football tops and crop tops are not allowed for P.E.

We have Science with Miss Meina on a Monday and Health and Wellbeing with Miss Canavan on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Dates for the Diary

Kilbowie Meeting – Tuesday 3rd September at 6pm in the school.

Sacrament of Confirmation Meeting – Monday 13th January 2020 at 7pm in Church Hall of St James The Greater.

Clubs

P7 football Club will start on Tuesday 27th August. This will be delivered by Mr Walsh and will take place outdoors on the football pitch. This is open to all Primary 7 pupils. Pupils should bring suitable footwear, a waterproof jacket, a water bottle and inhaler (if required).

Netball – P5-7 Netball Club – 3pm – 4pm in St Andrew’s High School.

Homework

The children decided on Friday that they would like homework to be given out on Tuesdays and collected on Mondays. I hope to trial posting the Homework here on the class blog as well. Expect homework to be in children’s bags tomorrow night (Tuesday 27th August).

Class Book

The pupils have decided that they would like to read Gangsta Granny as a class book at the end of the day. If you already have a copy, your child can bring this to school, if they wish, to follow the story. There is no need to buy a copy of the book.

Kind Regards

Mrs Rigg
