Common Words – old, do, going
- Practise writing in the air, on your hand, on the floor.
- Count how many letters/sounds/syllables – remember you can clap the syllables.
- Can you recognise/see any phonemes in the words? If you can, what phonemes can you see?

Possible Written Tasks
- If you can download and print the common word overwrite sheet and put inside a polypocket, you can use this everyday to practise writing each word using a whiteboard pen. You can download the sheet here. Overwrite Common words old, do, going If you can’t download just practise writing each word on a sheet of paper/jotter each day. Always write each word 3 times. You could do this in different colours.
- Write super sentences for each word. Try to write a different sentence for each word every day.
- Ask a grown up to dictate sentences for you to write, remind them they have to include one of the common words in each sentence.
