Here are some extra activities you could do at any time with our common words.

To do:
- read over all common words taught to date (each slide has the week that words were taught)
Other activities to do:
- have a go at writing them on scrap paper/ white board (if you have one)
- you can make a whiteboard by putting a sheet of paper inside a plastic poly pocket
- can you write them small?
- can you write them big?
- can you write them on different colours?
- how many of the same word can you write (correctly) in 30 seconds/1 minute?
- spell them out aloud, then spell them out aloud without looking
- discuss the words
- can it be sounded out or just have to be learned?
- how many letters are in each word?
- how many vowels?
- how many consonants?
- are there any digraph phonemes (sounds)?
- do the contain any little words?
- do they sound like other words we know
- do they look a bit like other words we know i.e. dad and did
- can you find common words in books, magazines, newspapers?
