Mental Health Awareness Week 18th – 24th May

This week (18th – 24th May) is Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme changed from ‘Sleep’ to Kindness Matters.  Protecting our mental health is going to be central to us coping with and recovering from this pandemic. There is a close relationship between sleep and mental health which is also significant at this particular time, due to anxiety and worry which can affect peoples’ sleeping. Are you managing to get lots of sleep?

Kindness is defined by doing something for yourself and others, motivated by a real wish to make a positive difference and research that shows kindness and mental health are deeply connected. Showing kindness toward others helps to reduce stress and deepens friendships and kindness to ourselves can help boost our self esteem and improve confidence.

#KindnessMatters  #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.

We know that one act of kindness can lead to many more.

e.g. write a thank you note, encourage someone, forgive someone, call up a friend, surprise someone, post an inspiring quote, give a compliment, tidy your room, house or garden, write a positive note on a sticky, draw a picture for someone you love, take time to listen to someone. read a story to your brother or sister..

These are just some ideas..

During this week maybe you could:

  • Reflect on an act of kindness you do and share your stories and pictures with us on the blog or twitter.
  • Share your ideas on how you think we could build a kinder society that would support our mental health. Post some of your ideas – make a poster, write a blog or speech, or draw and illustrate your ideas.
  • Take some extra time this week to talk and listen more with your family and try and not fall out with your sibling(s)!
  • Let us know how you get on

Primary 2/3 and St. Patrick’s 18.05.20

Hello boys and girls, hope you are all well, and looking after your families by trying to help around the house or even in the garden!

Today, Monday 18th May would have been the 100th Birthday of St. John Paul II!

The youngest Pope at the time at only 58. He was Head of the Catholic Church, as Pope, from 1978 – 2005 ( 27 years). He died at the age of 84 and was Canonised a saint in 2014.

There are two links below one when John Paul II visited Scotland in 1982, which a lot of your families will remember, ask them about it! The second is a clip of important messages he said. Please have a look:

This Thursday would have been a Holiday of Obligation as it is Ascension Thursday but as we can’t go to Church at present here is a little link for you and a few suggested activities I thought you might like!

FeastoftheAscension           Some nice ideas give them a go!

Boys and Girls I hope you have a good week, Primary 2/3 your work is in the closure section as always, just try your best!

Take care,

God Bless! Mrs Slavin X

A wee message for Primary 4 pupils

We are all feeling sad and disappointed that our P4 pupils won’t get to make their Sacrament this coming Saturday but we’re excited for the time when it happens.
We’ve made a short video to share our best wishes with you all and the lovely words were written by Miss Park.
We should have a competition for you all to guess how many spelling mistakes each member of staff made whilst doing this 😊

Staff are now addicted to making this type of video and we’ll be making one for all the boys and girls in the school next week as you’re all in our thoughts.

Primary 3/4 WB 12th May 2020

Hello P3/4 🖐

I hope you’ve all had a lovely long weekend. I’ve been kept busy pulling weeds out of my garden and cutting my grass. I only noticed one spider thankfully! I didn’t want to find any so I was trying not to look. Maybe you could send me a message or a photo of the things you’ve been doing at home with your family, or even some of the nice work you’ve produced.

The tasks for this week are in the School Closure Section above. 👍

Oxford Owl class name and password = stpatsprimaryp3/4 📚📗📕

I’m missing our class this week in particular because it would have been an exciting time as most of you would be preparing to make your First Holy Communion this Saturday the 16th of May. However, please remember that you will make it when the time is right, so the celebrations are not cancelled they’re just being set to one side for now.🙏

I am missing you all and hope that you are all keeping safe and feeling happy. I hope to hear from you all soon. Take care for now.

Miss Park 😃

Oxford Owl Primary 2/3

Hello boys and girls.

Some of the children were asking about the login details for Oxford Owl.

Once signed in you go to the pink My Class Login and key in

stpatsprimary2/3

for both the username and password.

I hope this helps.

Also some of the books I set are on the teacher section but not the children’s site so I have changed the red groups books to

The Flying Machine     and    Key Trouble     Level 9

Take care everyone! Mrs Slavinx
