Nursery Transition
Over the next few weeks Primary 1 are excited to be participating in a joint topic with the nursery to help prepare them for school. We will be working on a topic called ‘Hungry Adventures’ where we will explore seasonal fruit, planting, stories, games and play activities. Today we welcomed the nursery children into Primary 1b and as you can see from our picture we were all very busy and engaged. We were fruit printing, making fruit kebabs, planting seeds in our class garden centre and sequencing how to plant seeds. All of the nursery children were very comfortable in the class environment and they also got to meet some of their buddies who came along to help out.
World War 2
This week Primary 7 have been busy completing work about Adolf Hitler. They read fact sheets and researched information about him online whilst making notes. They were then able to create an informative report about Hitler. The children word processed them and they are now on display in our classroom along with our fantastic painting of Hitler, which some of the children completed themselves.
World War 2 Art
This afternoon Primary 7 have started working on some art for their World War 2 topic. They are creating images from war time, in particular the blitz! The pictures will show what the skyline will have looked like.
Tomorrow they will add straws for texture to show what an Anderson shelter would look like during the war.
In addition to this some of the girls have started drawing our war time leaders – Hitler has already been started.
P7 RE
Primary 7 had another visit from Mrs Gallagher from St Maurice’s today. She was joined by Miss Haxton and Mr Greechin. The children were looking at bible studies again and looking for psalms within the bible – Mrs Gallagher was so impressed with our work!!
After this, Fr Daniel joined us to speak about the vestments which priests wear and the meaning of it all. We also spoke about the different colours worn at different times in the liturgical calendar, again P7 impressed with their knowledge of this.
P7 and P5/4 PE
This morning primary 7 and primary 5/4 both went out onto the pitch to do PE together. With the upcoming Rio Olympics, we were thinking of different activities that would take place. We decided to partake in some relay races, with mixed teams from both classes.
We were also able to have some free time at the end of the lesson to show our skills in different forms of PE.
Some impressed with their hula hooping skills 😀
Visit from School of Sport
This afternoon Primary 7 received a visit from Richard and Ruiradh from St Maurice’s School of Sport. They brought along some of their first year pupils who put on fantastic presentations about the School of Basketball and the School of Rugby. It gave the children an insight to what it would be like if they joined and everyone was given the opportunity to get a letter to apply.
