Our Mini Vinnie group is at this time made up of Primary 5 children with new recruits from Primary 4 getting the opportunity to join us in the coming months.
Mini Vinnie’s follow the national model of ‘ See, Think then Do”. We look around our school and local community to see where we could help. We then think about how we can help. Finally we make a plan and do something to help.
It has been a busy time for our Mini Vinnie’s. We recently had our commissioning service led by Father Emmanuel with the grown-up members of the conference being commissioned at the same time. We also hosted senior members of our community for a very successful Christmas lunch. We made handmade Christmas cards to give to our guests and spread a little Christmas cheer.
At the moment we are busy getting ready for our busy Lenten season where we help with prayer and Alms giving. Kindness, compassion and a willingness to put faith into action is what following St Vincent de Paul is all about and here at St Michael’s we work very hard to do this as best we can.
In December, our Primary 5 Mini Vinnies were officially commissioned with the Parish conference of the SVDP. It was a very exciting event and the children all did an excellent job.
In December, we shared a special lunch with some senior members of our school community, hosted by our very own Mini Vinnies. Our choir provided some entertainment. It was a wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by all.
