P7 Transition Project

We have been asked to share the attached project with our Primary 7 pupils as part of their transition to St Ambrose High School.

A document has been uploaded to the P7 Sharepoint and will be saved under ‘Daily Tasks’ that provides all the information you need to take part in this exciting project.  We are sure you will enjoy this and look forward to seeing how you get on.

Online Courses P5-7

Please find attached details on online courses available from Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Using the tried and tested e-Sgoil platform, a timetabled set of classes will start 27 April, and gradually increase over the weeks ahead. The lessons will be provided by Keep Scotland Beautiful, SCILT, the National Languages Centre, and e-Sgoil.

There will be live interactive teaching for learners.  All of the lessons have been adapted over the last few weeks for a learning at home basis, some are existing and well known areas of the curriculum, and others are launching for the first time.

If interested please enrol your child following the link on the page.

Eco – Schools At Home

We have received a communication from Keep Scotland Beautiful who are developing some resources for working at home.  They have asked us to share with you two resources currently available on their website.  Further details below:

The Pop-up Pocket Garden is a gardening project that can be done at home in a small space outdoors, or indoors on a windowsill.  It provides a great opportunity for children and young people aged 3 – 18 years to design and grow a small garden. There are themes to inspire you and a design brief to guide practical building and growing. They are looking for exciting and unusual designs that use edible plants, plants that attract wildlife and will reuse something which would otherwise have been thrown away.  The best Pop-up Pocket Gardens will be featured on the Keep Scotland Beautiful website to celebrate your ideas and skills and inspire others.

For children aged 8-25 years old, Young Reporters Scotland is a perfect opportunity to investigate and report on an environmental or sustainability issue which matters to you. The competition is designed to give young people a platform to express their opinions and solutions for environmental issues in addition to providing an opportunity to develop their own journalistic skills.

STEM Stars

Mrs Drummond has loved visitors this week showing off their fabulous creativity.  We have had a butterfly house, complete with pretty butterflies, a vending machine with options as well as a lovely dog house complete with dogs.  Wow! Well done everyone.

Using Glow on an Ipad

We are aware that many of our pupils will use Glow on an iPad instead of a pc or laptop and how information is displayed is slightly different to what would be seen if opened on a pc.

In order to assist you we have taken some pictures and attached them to this post to help you change the display so that you have the full functionality of Glow that would be displayed on a pc.

Eco Committee

The Eco Committee met to discuss the areas we feel need attention to ensure our school remains an Eco friendly place.  The agenda was busy but we got through it all and left with lots of action points.

Our next project is to encourage as many pupils as possible to ensure they take home their lunch boxes as currently far too many are left behind which means they start to smell and make our school look untidy.  We think we may give a prize to the class with the least on the trolly at the end of the day.

Eco Committee Repair Fairy Garden

It was great to get outside today and spend some time repairing our fairy garden which had sadly been affected by the bad weather.  We washed our decorative items and laid out a new pathway ready to encourage people to check out our bug hotel.  We checked things out and saw lots of big worms, slugs oh
