Christmas at Nursery

The boys and girls have had a busy and fun filled week at nursery. They have been very busy looking through the catalogues, then using the scissors and glue to make wish lists to send off to Santa, we are now patiently waiting on our replies 🙂 They have been creative in the messy area, using scissors, glitter and glue to make snowflakes and Christmas baubles. All the boys and girls have been excited to come to nursery everyday to see what ‘Snowflake’ our Elf has been up to, she has been playing with our toys, wrapping our christmas tree in toilet roll and eating our sweeties for our party. The boys and girls have been very kind and brought cards into nursery for their friends, they got to post them in our postbox and sort them out into groups, putting the nursery stamp on them. On Friday morning the boys and girls were very lucky and got to visit Rosehall Care Home, they sang some lovely Scottish and Christmas songs to the residents, they then gave us a treat of chocolate and juice.

Guy Fawkes Day fun in the Nursery

The children in the nursery have all been very excited today about seeing fireworks tonight. The children all had a discussion about where they were going or what colours might light up the sky tonight and of course they discussed how to stay safe tonight with the fireworks; staying wrapped up, having gloves on, keeping sparklers away from their face and staying far away from the firework displays!

With all the excitement about fireworks, the children had the chance to create their very own firework pictures. The children used glitter paint and a variety of utensils to replicate the fireworks exploding in the sky. The boys and girls also created their own rockets using collage and discussed what sounds the rockets would make. The children had the opportunity to participate in a science experiment. Using a plate of milk, dropping in 3 different colours of food colouring and holding a straw in the middle with a little bit of washing up liquid on the end of it, created the illusion of fireworks on a plate.
