People Who Help Us – The Police

Week Beginning 14th March 2016

In Primary 2 this week, the pupils focused on the police service. The role play corner was set up as a police station. The children had great fun role playing the different jobs police officers do. They created their own police hats and police badges and loved using these in the role play corner.

The boys and girls created their own police puppets. Kati came up with the idea of putting on a police puppet show. Most of the pupils joined in and enjoyed putting on a performance at the police station.

The pupils found out about fingerprints this week and enjoyed using the paint to create their own fingerprint. Demi was particularly interested to find out if they were all different and why they were different.

The children had an exciting afternoon on Thursday when the police visited P1/2. Pupils loved going out to the police van and Beth was very pleased when she was put in jail!

The pupils found out that police often solve mysteries and look for clues. On Friday afternoon, I had set up an investigation for pupils. The pupils were very enthusiastic about looking for each the clues to get their prize. They loved looking for each clue and were very pleased when they found the prize of sweets!
