Paramedic Week

Week beginning 7th March 2016

This week the pupils were learning about the ambulance service and paramedics. The pupils had fun learning about the different utensils that doctors use and they loved playing with the doctors’ bag from the nursery. Demi did well at naming all the utensils and when the paramedics visited us on Thursday, she was very enthusiastic to tell them what she knew.

The boys and girls had a very exciting afternoon on Thursday when the paramedics visited us. Lucas enjoyed trying on the bandages and playing with equipment.

The role play area was set up as a hospital. Everyone loved pretending they were paramedics, using the costumes and the items the paramedics left for the children. They had great fun playing in this corner. The boys and girls were also given prescription forms which they could fill out. The children had fun writing these out and they pretended to give each other medicine.

The pupils know that medicine is safe from the doctor and can identify which medicines they have used and had fun cutting and sticking these into their jotters.

Next week, Primary 2 will go onto to look at how the police help us.
