There’s lots happening at Stane Primary School and Nursery class this week:

M&M Theatre Production

As a special treat, the children in P1-7 will enjoy a performance of ‘The Little Princess’ performed by the wonderful M&M Theatre Company.  This will take place in the school gym hall from 1pm.  The school will meet the cost of this.

To allow the performance to start on time, lunchtime will be earlier on Monday (12pm-12.45pm).

Valentine’s Disco

The Parent Council Valentine’s Disco will take place on Tuesday 16th February in the gym hall.

  • Nursery to P2 – 5.30pm to 6.30pm
  • P3-P7 – 6.45pm-8.00pm
  • £1.50 per pupil, payable on entry.
  • Tuck shop and glow sticks available to buy during the disco.

P6 Enterprise

The P6 Enterprise Group will hold their ‘Ice Cream’ initiative this week.  They will take orders in the morning and deliver ice-cream after lunchtime.  (On Monday, it will be delivered after interval due to the theatre visit)

Children can order:

  • a Cone or a Tub – 50p (2 scoops of strawberry, chocolate or vanilla)
  • added extras – 10p (sprinkles or raspberry sauce)

Rugby After School Club (Monday)

This club is cancelled this week as the coach is unavailable.

Nursery Football Taster Sessions:

Active Schools are delivering Mini-nippers Football Taster sessions on Tuesday (9.15am-10am and 1.15pm-2pm).

SSPCA Visit

Staff from SSPCA visit primary schools every year to deliver workshops on animal safety/prevention of cruelty to animals.  This will take place this Thursday at the following times:

P6/7: 9.30am-10.30am

P1-3 11am-11.30am (Gym Hall)

11.30am-12.30pm  P4/5 (or as soon as possible following return from swimming).

1.20pm-2.20pm P5/6

  • Mrs. Linfoot has successfully completed First Aid training and will share responsibilities as ‘First Aider’ with Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Kean.

February Focus for Celebrating Success Awards

Inset Day – Wed. 10th February 2016 

  • As part of the North Lanarkshire CANcan (Challenge Attainment in NorthLan) nurture development, all staff will be trained in the Solihull Approach.  The February inset day will be devoted to this.  Staff from Allanton PS and Alexander Peden PS will join us for this.

Jidel Judo

  • Local sports group, Jidel Judo will be in school on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to offer training sessions to P1-7.  PE Kit is required for this. (See below)

February Long Weekend

  • School and nursery are closed Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th Feb 2016.   Have a lovely holiday everyone!

General Information

After School Clubs

  • Clubs start again this week (although P4-7 Arts and Craft begins next week.  Pupils who have secured a place have been issued with a letter on Friday or will receive one on Monday for the clubs which run later in the week.  All run for six weeks (although P1-3 Arts and Crafts isn’t six consecutive weeks – please check the diary for dates).
  • Primary 1/2 will be taught by Mrs. Scott this week.  Mrs. Linfoot will be attending three days of First Aid training.

  • Mrs. Robert will be visiting St. Margaret’s of Scotland PS in Cumbernald.  Mr. Clark will teach P3 in the morning.

School Lunch Menu – 7th to 11th December 2015

Here is the school lunch menu for 7th to 11th December 2015.

Please note that Thursday 7th December is Christmas Lunch day.  The children should have already returned their order form to select either Turkey, Steak Pie, Vegetable Loaf or Snack2Go.  There will be no other options that day.  Any children who have not ordered a school lunch will have to bring a packed lunch.

On Monday morning, the children will be asked to give their lunch choice for both Monday and Tuesday to allow a quick departure for the Pantomime.  Please help your child to decide what they would like to order (Payment for lunches on Tuesday will be as normal).

Craft Fayre 

Thank you very much to everyone who supported the Parent Council Craft Fayre by coming along on Saturday or by donating items.  There are some left-over Craft Items that will be sold in school this week.

Nursery Student Teacher

Corrine Penrice from the University of West of Scotland will begin a two week teaching placement in the nursery from Monday 30th November 2015.

What’s on Week Beginning 23rd November 2015

Christmas Fayre 

  • The Parent Council Christmas Fayre will take place on Saturday 28th Nov from 12pm-2pm.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Entry is £1.50 for an adult and £1 for a child.  There will be lots of stalls and a ‘special visitor’ too.  The children have been making Craft Items in class which can be purchased at the fair.  The Parent Council are looking for tombola prize donations and home baking for the tea stall – if you can help out, please hand items into the school.  Thank you!

Non-uniform Day

  • This Friday in non-uniform day for just £1 per pupil, with all proceeds going to our ongoing School Playground improvements.  It has been suggested that we have a “House Colour” day.  The children (and staff) are encouraged to wear something in their house colour and the house with the most of their colour will win 100 house points!
