P2/3 Out and About
P2/3 made the most of the beautiful autumn weather today by taking a trip to Brownsburn Local Nature Reserve as part of their Katy Morag topic.
Many of our classes will be visiting the park in the coming weeks – the beginning of autumn is such a great time to get into the outdoor environment as there is just so much to see!
Hallowe’en Disco
We all had an absolute blast at last night’s Hallowe’en Disco, organised by our wonderful Parent Council!
Check out the spooky snaps below to see a fraction of the fiendish fun!
In the mood for tasty food?!
Our children have really enjoyed working with Mr Griffin to make vegetable soup and stew over the past couple of months.
Why not have a go at making one of Mr Griffin’s delicious dishes at home? Visit our File Store page to download the recipes!
Hope: An Anti-bullying Production
This morning, P4-P7 pupils joined our friends from All Saints Primary in the gym hall to watch a fabulous show: Hope: An Anti-Bullying Production.
Our children watched on as the performers presented a story with a clear and important message about bullying. At Rochsolloch Primary School, we always encourage our pupils to be mindful of the feelings of others, and to share any problems they experience with trusted adults in the school.
Following the production, the Take-away Theatre Company members ran workshops with our pupils to further explore and reinforce the anti-bullying message!
Take a look at the photos below to see the performers in action!

We know you’ll do us proud!
Rain or Shine!
Getting outdoors to learn through play is an important part of life in the Rochsolloch Nursery class! Our children are outdoors in all weathers! In this pair of snaps, you can see  that our children have taken their focus on ‘Sharing’ outdoors to look for ways to work together during water play.
It looks like great fun, boys and girls!

Osiligi Maasai Warriors
Last year, Miss Rangeley and P5/6 studied Africa. The pupils wanted to know more about African tribal culture so Miss Rangeley and Mrs McCulloch organised a surprise visit for this session…
All of the pupils from the school and nursery were treated to an absolutely amazing performance of singing and dancing this afternoon, courteset of the Osiligi Maasai Warriors, who had travelled all the way from Kenya!
The children learned about the Massai way of life, and about the meanings of the different, amazing songs they performed.
Check out our Twitter feed for a short video clip of the men from the tribe showing us how they used to hunt lions!
This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our children. What an afternoon!
YouTube Channel!
We’ve started our own YouTube Channel for parents!

If you subscribe to our channel, you’ll be able to access videos created by our staff to help advise you on how to best support your child at home! Soon, we’ll be looking for parental feedback as to what our parents would like to see explained through video clips!
Are you following us on Twitter?
We’ve recently created our very own Twitter feed to help keep our families up to date with what’s happening here at Rochsolloch.

Aim high! Give it your best try!
Rochsolloch Primary School and Nursery Class has a new motto!
We asked parents, pupils and staff to put forward ideas for an inspirational motto for our school. The best suggestions were shortlisted, and our pupils decided on our motto at assembly this week:
‘Aim high! Give it your best try!’
We think our pupils made a great choice – we are always encouraging our children to reach for the stars and give everything they have to achieve their goals!
Welcome Back Update
We would like to welcome all of our returning pupils to school for the new session, with a special welcome to our new Primary 1 and Nursery Class children!
We like to keep our website up to date with what’s going on here at Rochsolloch Primary, and we are looking forward to adding brand new stories and photographs as soon as we have renewed our photograph permissions for the new session.
Let’s make this year the best year ever!
Good luck, First Years!
This afternoon we said an emotional goodbye to our P7 pupils, as a guard of honour lined the school playground to watch our children piped out.
Boys and girls, you have been a fantastic P7. We have enjoyed watching you grow and develop over the years into the wonderful young people you have become. The high schools you are going to are extremely lucky!
We hope that you always remember your time at Rochsolloch, and look back on that time very fondly. Wherever you go in life, you will forever be Rochsolloch children! We wish you every success in the future, and we can’t wait to hear how you’re getting on!
We would like to thank our Parent Council for organising our P7 pipers, and for providing their lovely leavers’ t-shirts and yearbooks.
