Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral Primary School

Smart School Council reaches out to local community

Smart School Council class meetings took place across Cathedral on Monday 17th March. The question learners discussed was linked to Theme 3 of ‘How good is OUR school?’, which focuses on our school and community:

How can we connect with our local community during Cathedral’s 150th anniversary year?

As always, Cathedral learners came up with lots of interesting and thoughtful ideas. These were collated by House Captains and our Smart School Council action board has now been updated (see above). We have four action points:

  • Local residents will be invited to an advance viewing of our 150th anniversary exhibition on Wednesday 14th May and the following letter will be hand delivered around the local community by House Captains in the coming days.

Exhibition invitation

  • Residents from the local care home and sheltered housing, as well as the Deaf Hub, will receive the same invitation and Cathedral Primary will organise transport for those residents who wish to attend.
  • House Captains will meet with William from Glenview Court sheltered housing to plan a series of events for residents and Cathedral learners to enjoy together.
  • Cathedral Easter bunnies will deliver an Easter treat to the homes of local residents before the end of term.

There were lots of other great ideas from Cathedral learners, too many to include this time round, which we will take forward further down the line.

Please continue to pray for Pope Francis, as he remains in hospital:
