Good morning primary 1/2, I hope you had a wonderful weekend. This is your last full week of school before the summer break! I hope you are all enjoying completing activities from your home learning grid, as well as the other tasks being posted. Get in touch and tell me what you have been doing. I love hearing from you!

On Sumdog this week there is another NLC competition as well as Spelling and Grammar challenges. Try to do a little every day if you can.

This week I would like you to choose your own stories, send me a message to tell me which one you read and what you enjoyed about it.

Hello boys and girls,
I hope we are all enjoying the different activities posted each week! This week’s focus is on Article 31 that states all children have the right to play. We all have great fun when we are playing! You may have a favourite toy or a favourite game that you like to take part in. You could send a picture to your teacher on Microsoft Teams showing them you playing and telling us why you enjoy playing!
Although we have safe places to play, did you know, not all children have safe places to play? This week’s challenge is to design the perfect playground for children all over the world.
Think about the following questions:
• What would you love to be in your playground?
• Should you include quiet spaces?
• What age group will your design be for?
• What do you enjoy that is currently in your playground?
From this, draw a plan of what would feature in your perfect playground. You could draw the equipment or mark what you would like or search for images on the Internet and stick them on your plan. You may want to build a model of your playground using recyclable materials.
I also found a great story for Primary 1-3 called Treasure in the Garden. This book is great for encouraging outdoor play and exploration.
It would be great to see all of your playground designs! I am looking forward to seeing them.
Have a great week,
Miss Jones x

Happy Monday!
Can you believe this is the last full week of school before summer? I hope you all had a super time at the weekend, I’d love to hear all about it on Teams 🙂
Sum Dog
Well done to everyone who took part in the challenges last week. We also had enough people taking part in the NLC maths contest to make the leader board! Out of the 765 classes that took part, we placed 210th which is a great result. Our class challenge winners last week were
Blue Group Spelling – Daniel (157)
Pink Group Spelling – Charlie (202)
Green Group Spelling – Mia (203)
Purple Group Spelling – Samantha (70)
Grammar – Samantha (197)
This week I have created assessments for maths, spelling and grammar for you to have a go at. There won’t be winners for this, but I would encourage everyone to give these a go if you can.
Oxford Owl
This week I have found some non-fiction texts for you to read.
Sun Group – The Dinosaur Hunters
Moon Group – Zoom Out!
Rockets Group – Plants for Dinner
Stars Group – Patterns
Remember there are lots of other texts you can explore too!
Virtual Trip
As we are unable to go on a school trip this year, here’s some activities you could take part in throughout the week to make you feel like we have jetted off to Florida to explore Walt Disney World!
Have a fantastic week!

Oxford Owl
Here are some suggestions of Oxford Owl books that you could read at home. Remember the instructions to access Oxford Owl can be found on our class Teams page.
Blue Group – Journey to Mars
Red Group – Tom Thumb and the Football Team
Orange Group – Into the Pyramid
Green Group – The Race
Memories
As you might remember, on Friday I had asked you to think about your favourite memory from Primary 3/4. If you have one could you please leave a comment below or post on our class teams page. I will then put them together for everyone to see 🙂
Have a nice day boys and girls, keep in touch!

Good morning boys and girls,
How are we all today? I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Did you do anything nice? This weekend, we tried Archie’s new reins that is a little dinosaur rucksack. I have added a picture below. This week you have a Spelling, Sumdog and new Epic Reading activities. I also have added a link for some virtual trips that you may want to go on!
Capital Letter Spelling – History
Capital Letter Spelling 15.06.20
Full Stop Spelling – Common and Tricky Words
Commas Spelling – Common and Tricky Words
Question Mark – Phoneme ‘ew’
Question Mark Spelling Week Beg 15.06.20
Question Mark Phoneme Story ‘ew’
You can also try to think of a cool spelling of your own or try spelling them out with daisies or stones or pasta.
Well done to those of you who have completed last week’s Epic Reading task. I have attached new tasks below on the book ‘Finding Home’. I hope you have enjoyed having a book to read! Remember you can pick different books to read too. You could maybe do a ten minute silent read like what we did in class after our lunch.
On Sumdog, I have set Probability Competition for Maths and an Adjective Check Up. I am so proud of all of your efforts!
Newsround have lots of interactive Quizzes that you can do! It would be great to hear what ones you do on Microsoft Teams.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround#more-stories-4
Since we cannot go on our school trip this year as we normally would I found a link that lets you choose a virtual trip! Hopefully this will brighten up your day and allow you to experience different trips.
https://www.teachpal.co.uk/virtual-trips-for-children/
From these trips you could do the following activities-
• Create a brochure
• Design an advertising poster
• Create a quiz about the place that you have visited
• Make a fact file about the place you have visited
• Create a piece of artwork inspired by the place you visited
• Write a recount of your visit
• Write something new you have learned from your trip
• Plan your trip – what do you think you will need to take with you?
I hope you have a great week and I am looking forward to seeing where some of you go on a virtual trip!

Have a look at the timetable of classes here: Transition-TT2 Today there is an assembly, English and a PE lesson for you to view. The PE lesson can be found on the Coatbridge High Website
To log into Teams you need to join the Team by using the code given on the timetable. You will be able to see the teachers but they won’t be able to see you. Please get in touch if you would like more help with Teams.
I have also got a written transition task for you to complete: OMPS Transition Task 5 It is all about your hopes and dreams for High School.

Disney Virtual Trip
I know you have lots of activities to keep you busy, but we didn’t get a school trip this year and I know how much we all love Disney in our class! So, I have a ‘Disney Virtual Trip’ resource for you all to try, since it is the lead up to our Summer Holidays. It has lots of excellent activities for you to choose from. I cant wait to hear via teams if you try any of these out!
Missing you all.
