NLC Update

Further to our previous post, please see below for the latest information from North Lanarkshire Council.

NLC Update

Today’s announcement from the Scottish Government outlines the plan to reopen all schools on a full time basis from August.

We are currently considering the practicalities and implications of this announcement and will await further clarification and guidance from government, particularly in relation to public health and scientific advice.

Our priority is the safety of our pupils and staff across our network of primary, secondary and ASN schools, as well as our early learning and childcare settings.

We understand that you will have questions, and as this news was only announced today, we will make further information available on how this impacts on our schools and facilities in the coming days.

We are preparing for pupils to return full-time to school on 12 August and we will be working closely with our schools and partners, including our early years and childcare provision to establish our plans, which we will communicate as soon as we are in a position to.

Primary 1/2 22.06.20

Good Morning Primary 1/2, I hope you all had a lovely weekend with your families. I can’t believe there are only a few days until the Summer Holidays. This year it all feels a little strange!
Sumdog
Well done to all of you who have completed recent Sumdog challenges and taken part in the NLC competitions. As its the last week, I wont be setting you any work, however I will send you some coins and open the house as a reward. Remember you can log into Sumdog at anytime over the holidays.
Oxford Owl
There are lots of stories and activities to explore on Oxford Owl, our Class login will be available throughout the holidays if you want to read some books.
Teams
It has been great chatting to some of you on Teams and seeing photos of all the things you have been doing over the past few months. I hope more of you will join us in the coming weeks!
Home learning
This week you can choose tasks from all of the home learning grids and activities which I have posted previously. Have a nice day everyone, remember you can get in touch anytime!

Primary 2/3 – 22.6.20

Hi P2/3!

I hope you have enjoyed the weekend and are looking forward to the summer holidays!

Sum Dog
A big well done to everyone who has taken the time to take part in Sum Dog challenges, contests and assessments while working at home. I’ve been really impressed with your efforts. As this is the last week of school I won’t be creating any new challenges but I will be sending coins to you all for participating. I will also open the house earlier this week.

Oxford Owl
Oxford Owl and Sum Dog will be available to you throughout the summer if you’d like to access them. Just pop in the class username and password and you’ll be able to access the bookshelf.

Teams
It’s been very different to ‘Show and Tell’ and ‘News Time’, but Teams has allowed me to keep in touch with you all and hear about what you’ve been getting up to. It has been so lovely to see your pictures and work over the last few weeks and I hope you have enjoyed hearing from your classmates too. You should all be very proud of yourselves for the great effort you have made! If possible, I would love if you could all leave a wee message this week so I can hear from you all before school ends.

Summer Activities
Since we only have a few days left, I have attached some summer themed activities you might want to take part in before school comes to an end for the year. You can also still take part in the Disney Virtual trip which I posted last week. The files are also available through our class team.

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/kids-cooking – This website has lots of great recipes to try out.

https://www.happinessishomemade.net/easy-summer-kids-crafts-that-anyone-can-make/ – Here you can access lots of art and crafts activities.

Hope to hear from you all this week! Missing you all.

Miss Bennett xx

P7 22.6.20

Good morning P7!

Welcome to your last week of primary school! I can’t believe we are here already. We are all disappointed that we are not able to celebrate your leavers in the usual way, but we are looking forward to celebrating you in what way we can this week.

We tried to call round last week with our plans for this week. If you are unsure of our plans, please give us a call at the school.

I have also got one final transition task for you, if you would like to give it a go: OMPS Transition Task 6

Speak soon!

Primary 3/4 – Virtual Trips

Hello boys and girls 🙂

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had a nice relaxing weekend. What did you all get up to? I cannot believe this is the last few days of the Summer holidays! The year has just flew in!

As you know there are no new Sumdog challenges, Spelling words or Oxford Owl books this week as it is a very short week before the end of term! So instead I am posting some Virtual Trips that you could try out this week. There are some very interesting places to see!

QR Code Virtual Trips

The pictures below have a QR code on them. You can use the camera on your phone, tablet or iPad to scan the code. Once you have scanned the code it will take you to a virtual tour around some of these places. Why not answer some of the questions on the picture to?

Edinburgh Zoo Virtual Trip

Click on the link below to take you to an interactive map of Edinburgh Zoo! Click on different icons to find out information about animals, watch live videos of the enclosures and play some games.

Disney Virtual Trip

Some of the teachers last week posted a Disney Virtual Trip. There are lots of different activities for you to try. I know some of you really enjoy Disney films and characters so I hope you enjoy!

Disney-Virtual-Trip

If you do try any of these trips I would love to hear what you thought of them. Remember to leave a comment below or post to our class Teams page!

Have a super day boys and girls, would love to hear from you!

Big hugs

Good Morning Primary 5/6

Good morning boys and girls,

I hope we all had a lovely weekend! This weekend Archie and I went a walk, played outside and drew on a cardboard box that was going to go in the bin. He had lots of fun using the different colours! Yesterday we had a lazy day in the house because of the weather. We enjoyed a lovely Sunday dinner where Archie tried some roast beef.

The Summer Holidays start this week. I want to say a big thank you for all of your hard work and that I am very proud of all of your efforts with this new way of learning. Please try to familiarise yourself with Microsoft Teams as much as possible because you will be using this as a learning tool when we return to school. I will open previous quizzes that people may not have had the chance to do so you can feel more confident in what they look like.

The winner of our Sumdog Probability Competition is… Kara! Super job! I have also sent rewards to all of you who participated. Thank you for all of your efforts. This week I have set up some division practice and a Multiplication Check for today.

Since we are finishing up for summer I have attached some summer activities below.

Beach Riddles

How to make an Origami Lotus Flower instructions

Summer Activity Booklet

Summer Code Breaker

Summer Homework Grid

I have also attached some PowerPoint Quizzes that I thought you may enjoy.

Odd One Out Quiz

Would You Rather Quiz 2

Would you rather Quiz

I hope you have a relaxing and super summer! I cannot wait to see your smiling faces back at school. School will look a little different when we return but try not to worry as this is new for all of us even teachers! It is all to ensure we are safe and are following social distancing guidance.

Looking forward to seeing you all. Stay safe,

Miss Jones x
