The Role of the Physiotherapists
All pupils have their physiotherapist provision transferred from local paediatric services to school services on enrolment.
The school physiotherapist co-ordinates physio’ management in school and at home.
We also aim to help in these areas.
- Assessment of children on admission to school.
- Identifying needs and setting aims, goals and treatment.
- Advising staff on handling and positioning.
- Continued review and reassessment.
- Setting up individual programmes for each child.
- Assessment for equipment.
- Liaison with parents, staff and the interagency team.
- Attendance at and liaison with Westmarc Wheelchair services where appropriate.
- Close liaison with other agencies concerned with the children eg: Bobath centre, Robin and Rachel House.
- Attendance at review meetings.
