The Role of the Physiotherapists

All pupils have their physiotherapist provision transferred from local paediatric services to school services on enrolment.

The school physiotherapist co-ordinates physio’ management in school and at home.

We also aim to help in these areas.

  • Assessment of children on admission to school.
  • Identifying needs and setting aims, goals and treatment.
  • Advising staff on handling and positioning.
  • Continued review and reassessment.
  • Setting up individual programmes for each child.
  • Assessment for equipment.
  • Liaison with parents, staff and the interagency team.
  • Attendance at and liaison with Westmarc Wheelchair services where appropriate.
  • Close liaison with other agencies concerned with the children eg: Bobath centre, Robin and Rachel House.
  • Attendance at review meetings.
