Room 4 visit St Margaret’s High School

Room 4 visited St Margaret’s High School technical department this term. Paul has been working with Mavisbank for a number of years now and always comes up with new things to make. This year our students made a key ring. They had to use the laser printer and a drill and had to heat the plastic to be able to change it’s shape.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see and experience equipment which we don’t have at Mavisbank. Many thanks to Paul who gives up his breaks to make this possible for us.  Have a look at our students as they concentrate really hard to produce a fabulous key ring.

The Senior Prom

Three of our senior students enjoyed this year’s Senior Prom.  This event is for all ASN schools in North and South Lanarkshire and this year was held in the Motherwell Civic Centre.  As you can see our students all looked fabulous.  After the meal there was lots of dancing on the huge dance floor.  A great night was had by all ( and nearly everyone made it to school the next day !!) Many thanks to the staff who gave up their time to accompany the students.

Our Stevie Brown Art Prize Winner at the Scottish Education Awards

One of our students won the Stevie Brown art prize which was run with the Daily Mail. The prize was an art lesson with Stevie for her class plus £500 to purchase art supplies for the school and a ticket to the Scottish Education Award ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. The class really enjoyed their lesson with Stevie and the award ceremony was a great day out. Thank you to Stevie for sponsoring the competition.

Science Week in Mavisbank!!

Recently we enjoyed a fantastic and experimental week in Mavisbank.  Our pupils enjoyed experiences in relation to the Sciences and in particular “Ups and Downs”. We had lots of fun during the week and the pictures show a variety of contexts and lessons which the pupils enjoyed.

Parent Questionnaire – Feedback

Over recent months we have been in consultation with parents to get your views on our school.  We received very positive feedback and would like to share the results with you.  We have looked at all comments and suggestions on ways to take the school forward.  We have shared this with school staff, nursing staff and therapists.  We are also looking to streamline paperwork in order to maximize contact time between pupils and therapists.  Further implementations will take place over the coming weeks and months.  Please see the attached questionnaire results and we will send out  up to date contact information for the therapists as soon as possible.

Mavisbank Expressive Arts Week!!

Here is a quick flavour of our fantastic week all about Expressive Arts.  There were lots of live performers, singers and artists who came along to the school to involve and engage all our pupils.  They gained a lot from their experiences and enjoyed a wide variety of different aspects.
