Mrs N’s Notes, 24.6.21

What a busy week we have had…and as you can see from the photos above, our P.7 pupils just didn’t stop having fun!

However, they weren’t the only ones.  The week started with our Nursery Graduation.  What stars our youngest learners are!! Huge thanks must be given to all of the nursery staff and Mr Sharp who worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was given the opportunity to perform and  be recorded for your personal memory box!  It was a joy seeing such fabulous rainbow clothes on the day.  Many thanks to all our families for your support in this.

STAFFING UPDATE

A few things have changed since my last update on Friday.  We are delighted to announce that Miss Rae will be staying with us for another year, teaching in Room 15, P.6/5 from August.  In addition, Miss Curley and Miss Reid will also remain in Kirkshaws.  Miss Curley will start off the year team-teaching with Mrs Canning.  In this way, when Mrs Canning begins her Maternity Leave, the class will have continuity with Miss Curley continuing as one of their teachers.

We also have a further change in the nursery.  Miss Bradley will be moving on to a new post and we wish her well in this important step in her career.

AUGUST PLANS

Full plans for our return in August were attached to your ‘new class’ letter.  Please keep these handy in the new session.

EMAIL CHANGES

At the end of June all school staff will move to using their Glow email only.  The @kirkshaws.n-lanark email addresses will no longer be in operation.

SCHOOL UNIFORM INCLUDING PE

Many thanks to those of you who read our Poverty Proofing Policy which was created this session. As a result of this, we have reviewed our Uniform Policy.  As before, we will continue to encourage pupils to wear our school colours of NAVY AND GOLD with a WHITE SHIRT when wearing a tie.

In addition, we would like to encourage SCHOOL POLO SHIRTS, or a PLAIN GOLD/YELLOW t-shirt or PLAIN WHITE t-shirt for PE.  NAVY or BLACK shorts, leggings or jogging trousers should also be worn.  We would like to move away from expensive branded sportswear.  Please keep this in mind when buying new uniforms for the new session.  Keep the PE uniform simple.

EQUIPMENT FOR AUGUST

At this point, we expect pupils will be able to bring their own school bag, lunch box, water bottle, pencil case, etc to school in August.  Please remember FOOTBALL COLOURS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN ANY NLC SCHOOL.  This is not just clothing, but includes any branded merchandise.  Please keep this in mind when preparing for the new school term.

Finally, can I thank everyone for their support over the past months.  Enjoy your summer and we will see you all back here on Monday 16th August, when school, nursery and breakfast club will all start at the usual times.
