Mrs N’s Notes ~ 20th April 2018
Welcome back! Are we really only 5 days back into the new term? How have we managed to fit it all in?
The Kirkshaws Fairies must have been hard at work while we were off…have you seen the difference in our Library? It has been several weeks in the making, but at last our Library is ready for use. We already have some pupils planning a new book club to launch this new learning space as their club-room; that’s the Kirkshaws spirit! Something else amazing happened while we were on holiday – John Swinney, the Depute First Minister only retweeted a message about our Room 9 & 10 Enterprise projects! Kirkshaws – famous on the national stage! We are very proud of this group of learners and can’t wait to see what they will produce.
Our Easter break seems to have given us a boost of energy as we have all come back to work raring to go! From woodwork in the nursery, archery and castle exploring in P.1 and a P.6 K’Nex competition at Coatbridge High School it has been non-stop every day. It has been a VERY busy week for every class.
I have enjoyed talking to people this week! I have met with all the teachers, planning each class’s priorities for the final term. There’s still a lot of learning time left before the summer and we are going to make the most of every single minute. I have also been talking to pupils about their writing. I enjoyed reading their jotters before the break and have been finding out how they work to improve their work every single day.
Many thanks to everyone for their support in avoiding the staff carpark. It is always a tight space and shouldn’t be used as a drop off spot at any time, but over the next few weeks parking is even more difficult. We have new boilers being installed. The greatest part of the work was done over the holidays, but there will still be workmen on site for a few more weeks finishing off various parts of the project. However, I’m glad to report that we have had heating and hot water every day – no worries about that.
Next week we look forward to welcoming some visitors on Wednesday and Thursday – when we get the chance to showcase all our fabulous learning, good manners and Kirkshaws values. We can’t wait!
