Garden open event for Primary 5 parents and guardians. Thursday 18th June 2015 9.30-10.30. We hope you can come along and help us with our learning in the garden. We look forward to seeing you all.
P1a Halving and Sharing
We were learning to find half. Halving is when when something is shared equally between two. We had fun sharing out a glass of water between two. We also loved watching some video clips about this concept.
P3 Baking – Yummy Scones! (Part 2)
The last two groups from P3 got their chance to show off their baking skills on Monday 3rd June. They made delicious butternut squash and thyme scones. They worked hard at greasing the baking trays, rubbing the butter into the flour, stirring in all the ingredients without making too much mess. Then came the fun bit rolling out the flour and patting the dough into scone shapes.
Everyone was fantastic at cleaning and washing up as well as remembering all the safety rules! We all look forward to getting more opportunities in the learning kitchen next year.
Thanks very much to Mrs Kelly and Mrs McCluskey for all your help, we couldn’t have done it without you!
P2/3 in the Learning Kitchen
P2/3 shared their ideas for their favourite sandwich. You will not be surprised to hear that ‘chocolate spread’ was very popular! As we are a Health Promoting School though, pupils came up with alternatives such as banana sandwiches, jam, ham and cheese. Everyone had to spread and/or cut their ingredients and then enjoy eating them. On our second visit to the Learning Kitchen last week, a number of pupils decided to be ‘extra healthy’ and add some salad to their sandwiches. Please have a look at the photograph gallery below. Someone has been very adventurous and made a jam and banana sandwich with tomatoes! Can you see who it is?
P5 Novel Study
For the last few weeks of term, P5 will be participating in literacy tasks all about ‘Mr Stink’ by David Walliams. The children were asked to choose a popular children’s novel and the majority of the class chose this one. We are looking forward to watching the film and being involved in lots of different literacy and art tasks.
P1b Pupil of the Week

P1 made a lovely watercress salad in the learning kitchen today! It was delicious!
P4-7 Choir Sneak Peek!
We have been working really hard during Choir to learn songs to perform at the end of term. Have a listen to a sneak peek of one of our favourites!
P4 Super School Kid Rap!
P4 have been learning poems, our favourite is the school kid rap! This poem has repetition, rhyme, rhythm and onomatopoeia.
These are the lyrics:
THE SCHOOL KID RAP
Miss was at the black board writing with the chalk. When suddenly she stopped in the middle of her talk. She snapped her fingers snap! snap! snap! Pay attention children and I’ll teach you how to rap. She picked up a pencil, she started to tap
All together children, now clap! clap! clap! Just get the rhythm, just get the beat Drum it with your fingers, stamp it with your feet That’s right children, keep in time. Now we got the rhythm, all we need is the rhyme
This school is cool, Miss Grace is ace. Strut your stuff with a smile on your face Snap those fingers, tap those toes, Do it like they do it in the video shows Flap it, snap it, clap, snap, clap, Let’s all do the school kid rap!!!!!!!!!!
P3 Zumba Dance Routines
During term 2, P3 enjoyed having the opportunity to create their own Zumba dance routines. Miss Lalmy thinks they did a super job!
Watch a video of some groups’ routines – look out for super team work, timing, rotations, travelling, balances and flight. Well done you are zumba stars!
