Our Ethos and Community

Our Ethos

We have a positive, restorative and inclusive ethos at Glenmanor Primary School.

We work hard in partnership with parents/carers, pupils and external agencies to ensure that there is consistency, clarity, and agreement over routine procedures and that expectations, rules, and rewards are positive in nature.

Inappropriate or unacceptable behaviours are dealt with in a firm yet fair, restorative rather than punitive way.

We use positive approaches to manage behaviour such as:

  • PAThS
  • Cool in School
  • Co-operative Learning
  • Circle Time/ Healthy Planning Tool
  • Restorative Practices
  • Self Regulation

Community Links

The school plays an important part in the community.  It is our policy to foster in the pupils a vested interest and pride in Glenmanor Primary School and Nursery Class, and the Moodiesburn community.

We have good links with;

  • St Michael’s Primary School – coming together on joint performances, sports and choir events, and the annual Auchengeich Memorial
  • our school chaplain, Reverend Mark McKeown – who leads our termly school assemblies, hosts choir events in his church,  and helps prepare our P7 pupils for their transition to high school
  • Chryston High School – who have hosted cluster training events for staff and developed effective P6 and P7 transition events

We also work in partnership with;

  • the mining community
  • local businesses such as the Moodiesburn Co-op and Collins & Sons Butchers, Muirhead (who supported the operation of our school learning kitchen)
  • members of the Auchengeich Anniversary committee
  • our very active parent council

Our Pupils

We actively support and encourage community involvement in school issues through pupil-led Leadership Academy committee memberships, including:

  • Health Committee
  • Eco Committee
  • Pupil Council
  • Global Citizenship Committee
  •  Enterprise Committee
