Primary 6/7 have been learning all about the healthy benefits of Mediterranean food. Today they put their culinary skills into action by creating a lemon penne pasta dish with tomatoes, onions, lean bacon and thyme.
Primary 6/7 have been learning about pop art and the work of Andy Warhol recently. We created our own portraits of famous people using pop art style – can you guess who they are?
Today our group began the task of creating our display to let others know what we do during leadership time. We made display lettering from recycled rubbish and began painting the background of our design. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

Today was our first meeting of the Focus on Food / Fairtrade Leadership committee group. We had a group discussion about what we want the group to achieve this year and voted for 3 aims for the year. Some children researched fairtrade snacks for a possible Fairtrade tuckshop while others created a ‘Courgette Loaf Cake’ using produce from our garden in the Learning Kitchen. We can’t wait until our next session!

Primary 2 – Primary 7 should hand in decorated eggs to the school on Wednesday 23rd March. A chocolate easter egg for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be presented.
Every class was provided with potatoes and onions grown in our school garden. The challenge was to design, prepare, cook and serve a dish using the garden produce, ingredients from our dry store and a maximum of two other ingredients.
P6/7 won with their potato, onion and bacon bake! It was delicious. I am very sad that this challenge is over as I very much enjoyed sampling all the dishes!
P6/7 were excited to watch live coverage of the first British astronaut, Tim Peake’s blast off to the International Space Station this week. Tim and his team will be spending six months in space conducting scientific experiments and educational projects. We used the launch as inspiration for our story writing, creating planet settings and alien characters.
