P4 Super School Kid Rap!
P4 have been learning poems, our favourite is the school kid rap! This poem has repetition, rhyme, rhythm and onomatopoeia.
These are the lyrics:
THE SCHOOL KID RAP
Miss was at the black board writing with the chalk. When suddenly she stopped in the middle of her talk. She snapped her fingers snap! snap! snap! Pay attention children and I’ll teach you how to rap. She picked up a pencil, she started to tap
All together children, now clap! clap! clap! Just get the rhythm, just get the beat Drum it with your fingers, stamp it with your feet That’s right children, keep in time. Now we got the rhythm, all we need is the rhyme
This school is cool, Miss Grace is ace. Strut your stuff with a smile on your face Snap those fingers, tap those toes, Do it like they do it in the video shows Flap it, snap it, clap, snap, clap, Let’s all do the school kid rap!!!!!!!!!!
P4 Jamaican Art
We created these fabulous Jamaica inspired portraits! We used the words of Bob Marley ‘s song “Three Little Birds” to create an interesting aspect to our drawings.
P4 Helpful Herbs
Primary 4 smelled and tasted some fabulous herbs in the classroom. We found out that Rosemary was useful during plague times to get rid of bad smells. We also found out that Chives were used in China as far back as 300BC and were used to make antidotes for poisons. Did you know that Mint is an invasive herb? This means that it takes over other herbs and plants, so it is best to put it in a pot instead of the garden.
Our class went out into the garden and started decorating plant pots in which we planted herb seeds. Some of us chose to plant Dill, Parsley, Basil, Coriander and Tarragon.
At the end we got a stick and wrote our name and what herb plant we planted and stuck it in the pot. Hopefully, they’ll grow into herb plants and we look forward to using them in our recipes.

P4 and P4/5 Quail Chicks
February 2015
During our Biodiversity topic in term 3, we took responsibility for the incubation of 40 Quail chick eggs. We learned all about the process of development taking place inside an egg and shared our research with other classes in the school. Everyone in the school was really excited when hatch day finally arrived!
P4 Trip to Dumfries House
We went to Dumfries House for our class trip this session. We used our Biodiversity knowledge to find out more about how to encourage helpful insects into our own gardens. We created “Bug Houses” from plant pots, newspaper and straw and took them home to put into our own outdoor areas. We all had lots of fun both indoors and outdoors!
P4 Marvellous Maths Workshop!
In Primary 4, we have been using our maths workshop to help us during maths time. There are 4 stations. Maths facts: at this station we focus on our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division knowledge. At your seat: Here, we use our new learning to complete written maths work. Teacher’s Choice: At this station, we work in a small group with the teacher to learn new maths skills. Hands On: Here, we use all the learning we have been working on so far to take part in active tasks and fun related games.
P4 Creepy Crocodile Eyes!
We are very pleased with our “Creepy Crocodile Eye” art that we created using coloured pencils. We know the difference between colour and tone and can use them effectively to create detailed drawings. LOOK OUT! Somebody’s watching you….
