P2/3 have been very busy practising for their concert next week, but they have also been busy designing posters for a Road Safety Competition. Here they are proudly displaying their hard work.

Expressive Arts – Choir Singers and Artists
P2/3 choir and P4-7 choir singing their hearts out today. P4-7 choir were practising hymns for the upcoming Auchengeich Memorial Service.
Outstanding art work from P4-7 artists in residence at Glenmanor! They were doing a masterclass on the pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. Fantastic! Next week we will feature our dance group!
P2/3 Maths – Probability
P2/3 were learning about the probability of events happening and the different language that can be used. They learned that events can be certain to happen, can have a chance of happening and can be impossible and would never happen. They all enjoyed sorting some statements into these categories.
P2/3 Millenium Bugs
P2/3 have been looking at how technology has changed in the years 2000 – 2015. They have learned all about the Millenium Bug and made their own versions of what the bug would look like if it was real.
P2/3 Action for Eco
P2/3 carried out a litter pick after playtime on Friday 19 June for Glenmanor’s Eco Day of Action. They worked in trios using gloves and a litter picker to collect the litter. The Janitor thought there wasn’t much litter to be found but P2/3 searched high and low and found a whole carrier bag full! Well done boys and girls! Here are some photographs.
P4 Eco-Day Activity
Today we sorted and counted the litter that P2/3 had collected from playtime. We then created a graph and it showed us the types of litter that had been dropped and we could see how healthy or unhealthy we are being!
We noticed that crisps and sugary snacks were a popular snack choice and fruit was the least popular, when we think it should be the opposite.
However, we did think that our drinks are quite healthy as we drink a lot of milk and water.
We were shocked at how much litter was on the ground and we encourage other children to use the playground bins. Thank you!
P2/3 Planting Beans
1. Get a pot.
2. Add soil.
3. Place the bean in the soil making sure the split part of the bean is at the top of the soil.
4. Add water.
5. Sit in the sunlight and water every day.
If you take good care of your plants they will grow really tall.
P2/3 have enjoyed taking care of their plants and helping Mrs Ewart to find the sunlight.
P2/3 in the Learning Kitchen
P2/3 shared their ideas for their favourite sandwich. You will not be surprised to hear that ‘chocolate spread’ was very popular! As we are a Health Promoting School though, pupils came up with alternatives such as banana sandwiches, jam, ham and cheese. Everyone had to spread and/or cut their ingredients and then enjoy eating them. On our second visit to the Learning Kitchen last week, a number of pupils decided to be ‘extra healthy’ and add some salad to their sandwiches. Please have a look at the photograph gallery below. Someone has been very adventurous and made a jam and banana sandwich with tomatoes! Can you see who it is?
P2/3 Rainbow Salad
P2/3 were in the Learning Kitchen this week and enjoyed working with the colourful vegetables that can be used in a salad. They used a cutting technique called ‘the claw’ to help them cut their vegetables safely. As well as learning to cut safely, this experience gave children the opportunity to taste the different vegetables. To make this fun, each child made their own colourful, rainbow salad face and then with a little mayo, they started to crunch away. If you like eating nachos and dipping them into salsa, why don’t you add a few crunchy vegetables to dip?
P2/3 Visit to Dumfries House
P2/3 had a fabulous time when they visited Dumfries House in March. They were exploring what plants needed to grow and how to recycle some food waste by making a compost bottle. The grounds of Dumfries House are quite spectacular and would be a great place to explore the outdoors with your family. There is a great adventure play park too. Here are some photographs to show you what fun we had.
