Pi day

The pupils in Greenfaulds High decided to celebrate Pi Day to raise money for the school.

Pi day falls each year on March 14th when the date reads 3.14.

Pi is an irrational number but is usually rounded to 2 decimal places, which is 3.14!!

To celebrate all things circular each students, when in Maths, were treated to a doughnut while the teachers enjoyed some ‘3.14’ apple or lemon meringue pie for lunch. In total 660 doughnuts and 8 pies were eaten and the total money raised was £260.

The school also had its annual S1 ‘Pi Memorising Competition’. This year’s winner was Kate Buttenshaw who memorised Pi to a whopping 170 decimal places. Pi-tastic! In second place was Justin Adams and in third place was Aidan Pritchard. A huge well done to all pupils who took part in the competition.
