We have been learning about 3d shapes! We know a sphere, a cuboid, a cube, a cylinder and a cone. We build with 3d shapes, we sorted real life 3d shapes and we talked about the shapes!

Maths all around us
When we came back from the science centre we split into two groups to think about all the times we had seen maths on our trip. We couldn’t believe how much maths we used!
Adding
I’ve learned about adding today. Oliver.
We did sums. Pudsey helped us! Elli.
Equals looks like two lines one above the other. Aaron.

Maths outside
We took our maths outside today. We were learning our numbers and did work on ordering numbers, looking for missing numbers, counting on and back and we have also been working hard on the number before…test me at home!!
A Super Spring Day
Today we went on a walk outside to find signs of Spring.
When we first went outside we felt the air was cool but the sun was shining and made our heads and backs feel warm. Â We saw some buds on the bushes ready to come out.
Rhys saw birds and heard them chirping. Â Caiden saw some flowers growing in the garden. Â They were daffodils. Â Atholl saw a rabbit hole but didn’t see any rabbits in it.
For maths we learned about symmetry and made some lovely symmetrical Spring flowers.
We made some Spring pictures today. Â We painted the sky and the grass. Â Then we used brown paint to paint the trunk and branches. Â We then used pink paint and our fingers to paint the pink blossom on our Spring trees.

3D shapes
We have been learning about 3D shapes.
The shapes we know are:
cylinder
cuboid
cone
cube
Caiden knows that a cylinder has 2 faces that are circles.
Amy knows that all the faces on a cube are square.
Niamh knows that a cone has 1 face that is a circle.
Erin knows that a cone has one point.
Emma knows that a cone has 2 faces. One is flat and one is curved.
Ewan knows that a cylinder can roll because it has one curved face. Cylinders also have 2 circle shaped faces, one at each end.
Today we went on a 3D shape walk outside to see what shapes we could see. Have a look at our photos.
Our Christmas Shop
Yesterday we used different coins to buy items from our class shop. The coins we use were 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p. We learned that you can use different coins to make the same amount of money. Look at our photos to see how we got on.

Our 2D shape hunt
We have been learning about 2 D shapes.
Some of the shapes we know are – circle, square, triangle and rectangle.
Callum knows that a square has 4 sides which are all the same length.
Ewan knows that a triangle has 3 points and 3 sides which are all straight.
Rebecca knows that a circle is round and has no points.
Atholl knows that a rectangle has 4 straight sides and 4 points.
Brielle knows that a circle has one curved edge.
Today we went on a shape hunt around the school and took pictures of what we saw. We are sure you will agree that we were super shape hunters!!
