Health Week in Primary 1

This week was Health Week at Chryston Primary.
Every day we had an activity to keep our bodies healthy.
On Monday we has dance and hip hop. On Tuesday Mr Grant took us for football skills lessons. On Wednesday we did a giant walking bus round the local area. Yesterday it was Zumba and the today we had parcour.
I liked the hip hop dancing. I also liked Zumba because I used to go to Zumba.
We learned that when there is an emergency you should dial 999 to get help.
We also listened to different sounds to help us identify traffic and non traffic.
Have a look at some of our photos.

Road Transport Survey

Our new topic is about Transport.
Today we went to the school fence and filled in a sheet with how many different types of transport we saw. We had 10 minutes and we saw lots of types of road transport.
Here are some of the different types of transport we saw
-motorbike
-cars
-cycle
-vans
-lorries
-buses
These are all types of road transport.
Have a look at some of our photos. We used iPods and iPads to take these photos.
We learned that transport moves. Sometimes it is fast. We learned how to use tally marks to fill in a table.
We had lots of fun doing this today and we hope to do another one at a different time of day to see if it is busier or quieter.

Science Week in Primary 1

This week has been science week.  We have been learning about how to melt ice fast.  We now know that ice melts in the sun, on the radiator and on the window ledge.  It melts in these places because it is warm.  It melted fastest on the radiator because the radiator was the hottest.

Today we dressed up in a science theme.  There are lots of scientists and doctors here today.

This morning we saw a science show all about how food travels through

the body.  This is known as digestion (well remembered Hannah!)

We learned some tricky words like – oesophagus, canines, molars, incisors and intestines.

We had lots of fun this week.  Look at our photos.

A Stormy Week in Primary 1

We have been reading Percy the Park keeper, “After the Storm”.

We made storm pictures using oil pastels.  During a storm we might hear a bang, see a tornado, see heavy rain or hear whooshing wind.

We made storm music .

We used indian bells, drums, maracas, jingling bells, tambours.

What did we do well this week?

Hannah Mac – My storm picture was good.  I made big waves.

Aaron – I did my tornadoes well.

Morgan – I did great storm clouds.

Leena – I did good lightning in my picture.

Gregor – I think my picture was funny.  There was a yellow man in it.

Calum G – I worked hard on my storm story.

Red Nose Day Fun

Today is Red Nose Day. We came to school wearing our pyjamas or something red for fun.

This morning we went to the hall to hear about how the money we raise today will help others.

This afternoon we went back to the hall for a cake sale and for some fun activities such as colouring red noses, iPad games and some dancing.

Look at our photos to see the fun we had today!
