A Special Visit

On Friday we invited the adults from home to come and work with us in the classroom. The adults job was to help us to make rainbow clouds.  The clouds have lots of information about our families on them.

Elliot – My Gran helped me to write a kicking k.

Conor – It was good to have Daddy help me write a capital A.

Aila – My Mum liked me showing her my classroom.

Liam – I liked giving my Mum the tour of the classroom.

Ewan – Joshua’s Mummy helped me write on the strips.

Annie – I liked making my rainbow cloud.

Maxwel – I liked making my cloud with Nana.  I showed her how to hold the scissors.

Evie – I liked showing my Mum around the classroom.

Jared – My Mummy helped me to write a capital W.

Andrew – I liked writing all of the letters.

Arran – Mum thinks I am getting good at writing my name.

Emily – I liked making my rainbow cloud and my brother liked playing in the construction area.

Jack – I want to say thank you to Aila’s Mummy for helping me.

Riley – Mrs Hadden helped me to make my cloud.

Neve – I liked my Mummy helping me.

Obstacle Course Building

Today we had to make our own obstacle courses.  We are learning about how to be safe in the gym hall.  We are learning how to get and organise the equipment.

Each person in the team had to take a turn at choosing something to make our obstacle course. At the end we had three very different obstacle courses.

We used lots of skills like jumping, moving, balancing and climbing.  We thought our obstacle courses were fun, great and a bit tricky.  We are looking forward to making some more tomorrow.

Super Sorting Afternoon

This afternoon we worked hard to sort in lots of different ways.  We sorted lots of objects into whether they were rough or smooth.  We found it hard to sort some of the things because parts of the object were rough and parts were smooth.

image

We sorted in the water tray to check which object floated and which object sank.  Lots of us thought this was our favourite area.

image

We sorted out the socks on the washing line.  We had to look at the patterns and the colours and match them up.  Some of us found it tricky to get the socks on the washing line.

image

We used the shoe laces to investigate which objects had holes and which objects didn’t.

image

We sorted the compare bears by what size they were.  Some were big, some were middle sized and some were small.

We enjoyed our sorting afternoon.  Mrs Noble thinks we are super sorters!

The Three Little Pigs

Today we had a play afternoon to investigate our story in lots of ways.  We used the playdoh to think about the three little pigs.  Some of the boys decided to make the ‘pig’ bad wolf.  It was very interesting. The children enjoyed playing in the imaginative area pretending to be the three little pigs and the big bad wolf.  They were very good at acting out the story.  We were in the library reading the story and playing with the puppets.  We were building houses and testing them with our big bad wolf.  Lots of our houses were too strong for the wolf to blow down.  We used the letter beads and cubes to make the words on our three little pigs word mat.  We have all worked very hard and had lots of fun this afternoon.  Mrs Noble says we are all superstars.

All About a

This week we have been thinking about ‘a’. We have been investigating it in lots of different ways. We know that it is a small letter. We need to remember to curl it round like a caterpillar. We have been working hard to sit our letters on the line. We have also been thinking about things that start with ‘a’ too.

Class Charter

We have been working hard to think about what our classroom rules should be.  We think we have created some important rules.  Our rules are there to help to keep us safe and happy. Each of us have put our handprints on our charter to show that we will try to follow them at all times.

Our Number Work

This week we have been working on the number 0 and the number 1. We have been practising counting, reading and writing our numbers. We enjoyed using the marbles with our roll and write activities. We have been using the iPads to form our number properly. We have learned some number rhymes to help us. Ask us to tell you what they are.

Name Investigation

This week we have been working hard to investigate our names. One day our names were hiding all around the classroom and we had to find them. We have been making our names with the alphabet blocks and the letter beads. We cut out our letter and made name trains. We have even been outside using the chalk to write our names in the playground. We are all getting really good and writing our names.
