PARTNERS AND PLAY PARTNERSHIP

Partners in Play is an independent charity, established in 1996 which offers direct support and information to families of children / young people with disabilities with bases in Cumbernauld and Wishaw we operate across Lanarkshire. We aim to empower children and young people with additional needs to actively participate in community life. Our moral purpose is, to improve opportunities for children and young people with additional support needs, to develop independence and to overcome barriers to active participation in community life. Key values of the organisation are based on Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) principles. These values inform all the work of Partners in Play.

Our expertise is in:

  • Supporting the provision of inclusive, recreational services by other agencies for children and young people with disabilities.
  • Delivering a wide variety of support services to children and young people with disabilities (individual or group activities in the community or in the home).
  • Providing quality care services for children and young people encompassing GIRFEC principles, whilst ensuring enjoyment for the young person.

They will be running a Youth Club in Forgewood Community centre every Friday night starting in January. The S5/S6 pupils will meet with Partners in Play and will take part in a 3 week training course. Pupils will then support staff to help run the Friday night club.

They will gain certification in First Aid, Moving and Handling, Managing Difficult Behaviour and Child Protection.
