Lots of new learning and fun in P1
Primary 1 and primary 1a have been very busy enjoying their new ‘Creation Station.’ The idea behind the creation station was to allow the children to be creative in their own way and to see what they came up with! It has been great seeing all their fantastic designs. In the Creation Station we have;
- sand and water
- playdough
- construction materials with sheets for children to plan, draw and write about what they want to build
- story area with puppets, sound feely bags and story sequencing etc
- Maths area with 3d shape and symmetry activities etc
- lovely, calm area where children can ‘drink tea’ and have a chat
- creation area with cardboard boxes and various art resources where children have free choice of what to make. They love it here!
In class the children have been working hard on reading their new books, learning new sounds and common words. On Tuesdays they are busy writing about different things, aiming to be star writers!
They have also been working hard on addition and subtraction, symmetry and working with money.
Children have enjoyed our mini Scotland topic and we were delighted at how well the children learned the Scottish poem.
There are lots of photos to look at and apologies for not blogging for a while!
Roman Houses
P4 have been learning about The Romans and how they lived. In our co-operative groups, we have built our very own Roman rooms. The building process might have looked a mess but we all worked hard to build our very own Roman rooms out of recycled materials.
Fun at the afternoon cafe!
This afternoon we served hot chocolate, tomato soup, milk and chocolate buttons. The cafe waiters were very efficient, taking orders, serving people quickly, tidying the dishes and telling people to “have a nice day” as they left the cafe!
Compliments
Today we wrote a compliments sheet for everyone in the class. We said one nice thing about each person. We agreed as a class that we all feel a bit better after hearing these nice things. This is what we think and how we feel now that we have read the things people have said about us:
Melissa- I feel happy.
Callum- I feel so happy that people notice me.
Libby- I feel that I am nicer to more people now.
Fraser- I feel more noticed than expected.
Lewis M- I like that people said I am a good Youtuber.
Ronan- I feel like I have more friends now.
Lewis C- I like that people said I am smart in maths.
Molly- I feel happy.
Ava B- I feel like I have more friends now.
Adam- I feel a bit stronger.
Oryn- I feel happy that I have friends.
Steven- I feel kinder to people around me.
Freya- Now I know people like me.
Christopher- I feel popular.
Iain- I feel happier.
Kenzie- I feel like more people like me now.
Aaron- I like that people say I make good games.
Farren- I feel happy that people in the class like me.
Ava T- Now I know that people like me.
Hannah C- I feel happy that people don’t think I’m bad.
Hannah G- I feel like more people like me.
Balmalloch Nursery Cloakroom Cafe!
We had a wonderful Seattle-style coffee shop in nursery today, with lovely comfy couches and low tables. On the menu was hot chocolate, tomato soup, milk and chocolate matchsticks! The waiters took the orders and the chef prepared the food. Everybody remembered to pay their bill at the end. This was great fun!!!

Our Fish Charter
We, P6 know that looking after fish eggs is very important. We have made a charter to show our commitment to the fish. So far we have no dead fish eggs and we have maintained a steady temperature.
