Comparing Stories

For the past two weeks P5 have been reading a non-fiction book called Hercules and Other Greek Legends. We found out lots of interesting facts from this book. We are not quite sure if we believe the stories 100% because there are some strange monsters in the stories.

On Friday we read another story called Theseus and the Minotaur. We compared this story to the Hercules story. Here are some of the similarities we found:

-They both defeated a monster.

– There were wars in both stories.

– Both stories had evil kings.

– Both main characters were men.

– They both used swords.

– Both main characters were heroes.

– Both characters are strong and brave.

Money! Money! Money!

Primary 5 have been exploring money over the past few weeks. We have been trying to spend within a budget. This week we have decided to use money instead of class points.

We have created a list of ways we can earn money and there is also a list of things we can get fined for. On Friday we will have the choice to spend our money on a treat or save it up for next week!

Children In Need

Primary 5 have been having a great day today! We have been completing the Lord Sugar challenge. Some of us thought he was a sugar farmer! Then we remembered he was on the Apprentice.

We worked in groups to make our own business. It could be anything we like. We had candy shops, music shops, sports shops, car shops and electronic shops.

Some of us were really good at presenting our product to the class. Here are pictures of our concepts.

Time

Primary 5 have been working hard this week in maths. We have been working with calendars and time tables.

We really liked being able to work in groups on Thursday. We had to do an odd one out quiz for our hall time table.

Then we were given a December calendar. We had to pencil in all our important dates for that month. It was really fun!!

Here are some pictures of our hard work:
