In Primary 6 we created a ‘character from the boots up’. Each group chose a number and inside their bag was a pair of shoes. The task for each pair or trio was to decide who might own these shoes and create a mind map describing the characters: appearance, personality, fears…. After playtime each child drew their character and wrote a story using this as the main character.
The theme of World Book Day was to share a story so I set a challenge to my Primary 6 class. In trios choose a short story to read to a group of Primary 2 pupils. After listening to 3 stories each the P2’s voted who read them the best story. The Primary 6 pupils took this challenge very seriously and it was fabulous listening in on their storytelling 📚
P6 had coaches from Uddingston Rugby Club come in today for a rugby 🏉 taster session. They all enjoyed the experience, having fun and playing! P6 had excellent skills and most could be Champions if they worked hard and practised. P6 loved rugby and their coaches: Len, Alan, Stu taught them very well. (Rosa and Abbie)
It’s all go in Primary 6 at the moment. We spent the morning at Uddingston Grammar with a P6 class from Newton Farm Primary learning how to access information in the library using: the Dewey System, posters, encyclopaedias… and in the afternoon back at school we have our hockey 🏑 coach. Friday was a super busy day at the Science Centre for P6. It was the launch of our Clyde in the Classroom topic where we learned how to care for our fish. There was also some time to visit the different floors and explore the different activities.

Last week Primary 6 enjoyed sorting the Christmas post and P1 pupils ensured it was delivered on time. Now P7 are back they are in charge of the delivery service. The postbox is located next to Ronnie the card machine. Remember to write the pupil name and class on each envelope and delivery to the class is guaranteed before Christmas. Last post 10 a.m. on Friday.
Over the last couple of weeks Primary 6 have participated in a wide variety of healthy activities. This term Miss Hesford has helped us learn more about healthy eating and hygiene in the kitchen. Friday was dress down day at Aitkenhead so to add to the fun Primary 6 played Halloween themed games in their PE time. The class thought of new movements for a spooky twist on Port and Starboard then finished with a chase game of Ghosts and Graveyards.
