Scottish Studies

All S1 pupils will have the opportunity to achieve an aware at SCQF Level 2 qualification in Scottish Studies. This course will be delivered across the school through a number of different departments including Social Subjects, English, Art and Performing Arts.
Pupils will undertake the following topics in Social Subjects:
• Learning about Scotland
• Making a decision with a Scottish context
• Making a contrast with a Scottish context
• Organising and communicating information with a Scottish context

Pupils will have the opportunity to choose a topic about Scotland and create a project – this will count towards their award.

The Scottish Studies course is designed to give pupils a greater understanding of Scotland and they will look at a variety if topics, including: Where in the world is Scotland?, Scots language, Scottish identity, Scottish traditions, terrorism in Scotland and rights in Scotland.
