Social Issues in the UK – Crime and the Law

• Causes of Crime
• The Role of the Police
• The Scottish Court System
• Punishing Crime
• Does Prison work?
• The Children’s Hearing System
International Issues – World Issues
• Problems facing Developing Countries
• Tackling social, political, economic problems in developing countries
• Types of Aid and its impact
• Terrorist organisations and their aims
• Methods used by terrorist organisations
• Tackling international terrorism
• Evaluate success in tackling terrorism
All pupils will also be expected to complete an Added Value Unit and, where appropriate, a National 5 assignment.
