4. The experience of Scots abroad

Britain – The Making of Modern Britain: 1880-1951

This unit investigates:
1. The Problem of Poverty in Victorian Britain.
2. Changing attitudes towards poverty.
3. The Liberal Reforms
4. The impact of World War 2 on attitudes towards poverty
5. The Labour reforms and the Welfare State

SQA Unit specification

Europe & World – Free at Last? Civil Rights in the USA: 1918-1968

This unit investigates:
1. Changing attitudes towards immigration.
2. Discrimination and racism in the South
3. Civil Rights campaigns 1945 – 64.
4. The ghettos and Black American radicalism.

SQA Unit specification

All pupils will also be expected to complete an Added Value Unit and, where appropriate, a National 5 assignment.
