Open Day

Thanks to all who came to our Open Day today.  There was a great atmosphere in the school and the comments from our visitors were very positive with even some Parents wishing they could come back to school themselves!  Some of the highlights of the day were the Choir’s beautiful performance, the Speech and Drama recitations, the P1 Prayer Service with Fr Stephen, French in P7, maths in P5 and P3, P1 & 2 topic work, P4 literacy and P6 writing.  I am very proud of the hard work and dedication of our staff and pupils and we were delighted to share that with you today.

I was also delighted to share some good news with our P5-7 classes today.  P5 & P6 have been invited to participate in a really exciting science work shop at Strathclyde University and P7 have been invited to be part of the audience for Comic Relief Does Glee at the BBC studios in Glasgow.  These are great opportunities for our children and certainly something to look forward to!

We are going to be very busy over the next few weeks.  Tomorrow is Pyjama Day for Children in Need and next week we have a meeting for our P7 parents on Thursday at 6pm.  In addition our P5 pupils are looking forward to visiting the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh next Friday.

Saturday 30th November is the Christmas Fayre – we really appreciate all the donations already received and are hopeful for many more next week.  The day will be lots of fun with craft stalls, Santa, home baking and a photographer will be available for anyone who would like to have professional family photographs taken.

On Tuesday 3rd December we are starting the first part of our Food for Thought Project.  We will be working with John Hancox of Scottish Fruit Trees to plant our school orchard.  We have 40 fruit trees ordered and a range of fruit bushes.  We will all be busy helping to plant the trees and would be very grateful for any offers of help from parents or grandparents on the day.  We also need to borrow some spades or forks if anyone can offer these.  It will be great to see the trees blossom in spring and hopefully yield a good harvest in Autumn!

The preparations are now well underway for the Christmas Show – Children Around The World.  We are very grateful to the Parents who are helping to get the costumes made.  Anyone else who can help please contact the school.  Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from the school office for either Wednesday 11th December at 1.30pm or Thursday 12th December at 7pm.  £4 for adults and £2 for children.  Tickets are selling fast!
