Malawi Day

Thanks to everyone who took part today in our fund raiser for Mary’s Meals.  It was great to see our children dressed in the colours of the Malawi flag.  We have raised almost £180 which will support Mary’s Meals relief work during the current flooding crisis in Malawi.  All the children got a taste of the porridge which is given to children involved in the feeding programmes in Malawi.  There was certainly a mixed reaction to it!  Our children did recognise though, that if they were hungry and had no choice they would eat it and enjoy it.

Today we also had our H Factor Awards.  Once again the children who received awards were delighted to be recognised for all their efforts in school.  I am very proud of them.IMG_1222[1]

As part of our Assembly today our JRSO officers announced a competition for the children to design a cover for a leaflet to give to parents regarding safe parking.  It saddens and alarms me that we still have people who ignore road markings and continue to park or drop off in an  inconsiderate and unsafe manner.  For everyone’s safety please do not stop on the zig zag lines, the bus bay or enter the school drive either with a car or on foot.  IMG_1223[1]

We are delighted to be involved again with the Skill Force team who are supporting a group of our pupils as they work to achieve the Duke of Cambridge Award.  We are the first school in North Lanarkshire to be involved and the children are certainly making the most of the opportunity.IMG_1233[1]IMG_1232[1]

Next week we are looking forward to P4’s assembly, I am sure it will be great.  Last week P6/5 gave us a fantastic performance of a Burns Supper themed assembly.  It was a delight to watch the children perform so confidently and with obvious enjoyment.
