Happy New Year!

We have had a busy start to the year and as always, have lots to look forward to in the coming weeks and months.  This week I was delighted to welcome back all our pupils after the Christmas break.  It is great to see everyone looking so smart in their school uniforms.

On Tuesday P7 began their cooking sessions with Kirsten Fullerton our Food Tutor.  The children had fun and learned how to make a very tasty and healthy chicken noodle soup.  Next week we are looking forward to having up to 6 parents to join in the cooking sessions with their children.  Please contact the office if you would like to take part.

On Wednesday we received great news that our application for a fully funded activity break for 30 P6 & P7 children had been successful.  There was real excitement when Donna and Mairi from The Scottish Youth Hostel Association made the announcement.  30 of our P6 & P7 pupils have been selected to go to the Cairngorm Lodge from Tuesday 20th – Thursday 22nd May for 3 days of outdoor activities including canoeing, sailing and mountain biking.  This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to benefit further from outdoor learning experiences in the the beautiful surroundings of Scotland’s National Park The Cairngorms.

On Thursday P3-P7 were busy making smoothies and learning about healthy eating on the Lidl Health factor Bus.  Everyone enjoyed the experience and the children were delighted with their smoothie and they even got to keep the drinks container!

P1-4 have a visit to the Glasgow Science Centre to look forward to this term.  In addition P1 & P2 will visit the Summerlee Heritage Centre and P6 will visit the Motherwell Heritage Centre.  These visits, as well as being fun, offer valuable learning opportunities across the curriculum.
