Mr Crawford accompanied 15 of our senior pupils to the Mitchell Library today to an educational workshop. This event was coordinated by Education Scotland, The Devils’ Porridge Museum and the Govan Workspace. The theme was “How Industries Supported the War” which links in with the Higher History WW1 topic. Well done to all involved.
The Fruit of Silence is Prayer
The Fruit of Prayer is Faith
The Fruit of Faith is Love
The Fruit of Love is Service
The Fruit of Service is Peace
Mother Theresa believed that peace begins with a smile. Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. Let us always meet each other with a smile as sometimes the smallest things have the greatest impact.
School Prayer
Lord, I thank you for bringing me to another day.
May I live it completely for You,
Through you,
With You and in you. Amen
Blessed John Henry Newman, Pray for Us.
Yesterday Miss Sinclair lead a trip to the trenches. Pollock Park has reconstructed trenches and displays to show the conditions the soldiers lived and fought in during WW1. The teachers reported back that it was a fantastic learning experience and that as expected our pupils behaved impeccably. Well done to all those involved.
Every person is called by God for a particular purpose, for a specific vocation within their life. God calls all of us to lead a holy
and faithful life, but He may call some of us to find that holiness as a priest or as a religious brother or sister. Today we pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Let us pray: Father, You call all who believe in You to grow perfect in love by following in the footsteps of Christ your Son. May those whom You have chosen to serve You as religious provide by their way of life a convincing sign of your kingdom for the Church and the whole world. Amen.
School Prayer Lord, I thank you for bringing me to another day. May I live it completely for You, Through you, With You and in you. Amen
Blessed John Henry Newman, Pray for Us.
John B Keane, author and playwright, was moved by the story of the crucified Christ on Calvary turning to the thief on the Cross beside him and telling the thief they would be together in paradise. A note to his wife, Mary, concluded: imagine a man of the quality of Christ making a promise like that on his death cross. We know he is going to keep it. I’m sure Christ in his infinite forgiveness won’t keep anyone out of paradise”.
Let us pray.
Act of Contrition: O my God, because You are so good, I am very sorry that I have sinned against You and with the help of Your grace I will not sin again.
Amen
Every year the school puts time and effort into raising thousands of pounds for charity and good causes. The Christmas Fayre is the main event in which we try to raise money for our own school fund. This money goes to ensure that all pupils can go educational excursions and have lots of interesting experiences.
Please get in touch with the school office if you can:
Yesterday we had a visit from Andrew Flynn from St Andrew’s Hospice, he is the school coordinator and he gave an interesting talk about the ways senior pupils can get involved.
During his visit Mrs Maxton and the Ben Nevis Girls handed over a cheque for £2, 032 which means our school contribution to this charity is now over £46,000 and still rising.
Well done to everyone involved.
Breakfast Club is the place to be on a Wednesday morning – look out for your invitation arriving by text or post. Existing members are also allowed to bring a pal.
Our members put in requests for a variety of delicious breakfast foods – so far we have had toast, fruit, fruit juice, bagels, thins, and, rolls and bacon. The next few weeks we will be having french toast and scrambled eggs.
We have also purchased a copy of “Elf” to play before Christmas – exciting times.

Theme: 5 Reasons to Pray for the Souls in Purgatory
“Purgatory shows God’s great mercy and washes away the defects of those who long to become one with Him.” – St. Josemaria Escriva
Reflections taken from an article, “The Forgotten Church: 5 Reasons to Pray for the Souls in Purgatory” written by Sam Guzman and published on the website The Catholic Gentleman on 3rd November 2014.
When is the last time you prayed for the Holy Souls?
It is the teaching of the Church that purgatory is real and that there are countless souls there in need of our prayers.
We are urged to pray for the Church and for the relief of our brothers and sisters in purgatory.
This week in RE pupils will be encouraged to fill in their own ‘November List’ for the school book of remembrance, remembering deceased members of their family and friends.
This
is a picture of our senior volunteers receiving their Saltire Awards for volunteering at Summer School as Youth Leaders.
The senior pupils gave up their own time to come and act as youth leaders to our new S1 pupils who attended the week long summer school. The Seniors helped run activities such as team games, sports, arts and crafts, cooking and attended Fordell Firs out door centre where they encouraged the younger pupils to try new activities such as climbing, archery, 3g King swing and an adventure course. The volunteers developed skills in youth work and leadership throughout the week.
A great time was had by all and the week would not have been possible without the senior volunteers.
