Free Study Leave Membership

Exam time can be tough and exercise is a great way to relieve stress and focus the mind on challenges ahead, so we’re delighted to offer all S4-S6 pupils a free ‘Study Leave’ membership with Active & Creative Communities from 25th April 2022 to 3rd June 2022.

The membership includes unlimited access to Gyms, Pools and Fitness Classes in 13 centres across North Lanarkshire and if you’re new to the gym you can also book a free induction with a qualified instructor who’ll help you to get started.

If you are interested in getting involved in this offer, participating students can email johnstonji@northlan.gov.uk please note places may be limited.

In this short webinar, hosted by one of our Graduate Apprentices, we will explore 2022 opportunities in Software Engineering and find out what it is really like on the Graduate Apprentice programme – from those who are doing it.

  • Our employers will promote their current vacancies and provide advice on applying
  • Our Graduate Apprentices will share their personal experiences of being in the workplace and studying
  • The U of G team are on hand to answer questions.

Careers Advisers from Skills Development Scotland will talk about the different apprenticeships that are available and how work-based learning can open the door to a wide range of careers. They will also be on hand to answer any questions that you may have about your young persons career development.

Foundation Apprenticeships

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please find below a message from Skills Development Scotland (SDS):

SDS and NPFS are arranging a session on Foundation Apprenticeships for parents and carers on Tuesday 14th December from 7pm-8pm.

This session gives the opportunity to find out about Foundation Apprenticeships including who they’re for, how they work and the benefits.

During this one hour session we’ll talk through the value and equivalency of the qualification in terms of SCQF levels and UCAS points. We’ll also share pupil journeys and how Foundation Apprenticeships helped them progress onto a job such as a Modern or Graduate Apprenticeship, college or university. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
