On Tuesday February 27 we are hosting an event for all parents of next years’ S4, S5 and S6 pupils.
In a change to previous events we are having subject discussions and presentations from staff and year heads in a variety of venues.
Subject specific stalls will be set up in the yellow and green social areas. There will also be stalls in this area for university representatives, Developing The Young Workforce Ambassadors and Online Payment facilitators.
In addition there will also be a programme of 15 minute showcases from several departments running throughout the event, and 2 half-hour workshops each in Hospitality and Cake Craft.
The theatre will be used to give presentations on the option forms for each year group at the following times.
This week we have been marking the centenary of The Education (Scotland) Act 1918 when Catholic Schools became state funded and have since gone from strength to strength. Members of our SLT have been attending our local parishes with pupils who have been wearing school uniform with pride while participating in Mass.
Our pupils spoke confidently on the benefit of a Catholic education and all the wonderful community and faith experiences they are involved in.
Representatives from the school also attended the annual Education Mass in Motherwell Cathedral on Wednesday, Bishop Toal celebrated Mass and emphasised the importance of education and teachers.
Due to the forecast of worsening weather, school will begin to close to pupils from 1pm today. Lunch will be served at 12.30pm and all pupils will be supervised until school transport arrives.
All prelim examinations scheduled to take place in North Lanarkshire secondary schools on Thursday 18 January have been postponed due to the adverse weather conditions. Our schools will inform pupils and parents of the revised arrangements.
All other classes are running as normal and pupils are expected to be in school.
Unfortunately due to ongoing concerns about the weather we have had to cancel the ceilidh tomorrow evening (Thursday Jan 18). We will endeavour to reschedule this event but if this isn’t possible all money paid by pupils will be transferred onto their prom.
Due to safety concerns for pupils, parents and staff, tonight’s S5/6 Parent Meeting is cancelled. An adverse weather forecast has announced further snow and ice from 3 pm.
A rescheduled date will be given to pupils as soon as possible.
Last night Mrs Barr, Mr Stewart and Fr. John from Conforti accompanied a group of dedicated seniors into Glasgow to bring some Christmas cheer to the homeless. This was an eye-opening and emotional experience for our youngsters.
Our young people raised money, bought the gifts and then set out on an expedition to put their faith into action – well done to all involved.
Theme: Hope
Our first Advent candle reminds us of Abraham, our father in faith & the patriarchs of old who followed God in search of the Promised Land.
God our Father, source of all hope
We pray that you will continue to light the candle of hope in our hearts every day
And that one day soon you will fulfill all of our hopes for this world.
Amen
Thank you to everyone who supported Red Wednesday last week. A terrific £319.16 was raised through the coffee morning, red raffle and sales of wristbands and badges.
Just as importantly, the awareness of ongoing religious persecution was raised among our school community.
Thanks again
