VANDALISM IN OUR PLAYGROUND!

Please help us stop this vandalism in our school grounds! The children and staff of Calderbank Primary have been working extremely hard to improve our school and were bitterly disappointed to see this destruction which occurred on Monday the 24th March between 5pm and 6am.

If you have any information which would help us stop this from happening again, please contact the school on 01236 632084 or Airdrie Police on 01236 505100.

P1/2 Green Fingers !

P1/2 were helping to weed our raised beds and plant flowering bulbs for us all to enjoy. We spotted some creepy crawlies and even had some time for a play in the  nursery garden.

I have helped to grow plants and can name their basic parts. I can talk about how they grow and what I need to do to look after them.

School Grounds Development

P3/4 helped Alan Kain to plan out our new garden area. They used a variety of different ways to measure length and recorded them in a plan.

MNU 1-11a     I can estimate how long or heavy an object is, or what amount it holds, using everyday things as a guide, then measure or weigh it using appropriate instruments and units.

Eco Action at Calderbank

We are all busy creating designs for the ‘Right to Play’ mural in our playground. The Eco Committee will help to judge the winning design which will be used to produce our first school mural. Some of our Eco Committee have been writing emails and letters to ask our pupils, parents and community for help with our school grounds developments.

We are delighted that a local builder has generously donated the paint and brushes for our mural. We also reminded everyone that it’s important that they bring in old clothes and shoes, as we need everyone to help us paint the mural.

We wrote to pupils and parents to ask if they would help us collect the 2000 2 litre bottles we need to complete our Eco greenhouse.

Everyone is reminded that from 15th-19th April is our Eco Action week and it is important that all pupils bring a waterproof jacket and wellies to school as we will be enjoying our outdoor learning in all weathers.
