Parent Focus Group

As part of our school improvement plan this year, the staff and myself have focussed on creating core curriculum planners and statements for health and wellbeing.  To this end, I would like to invite parents who are interested along to the school  to be part of a focus group to review our planners and provide feedback on them.  The focus group will take place on Wednesday 8th June at 10  am to 11.30 am.  Should you wish to be part of this group, please contact the school office.

Day For Change

As part of the school’s work towards a Recognition of Commitment Award for Rights Respecting Schools, we are having a ‘Day for Change’ on Friday 13th May 2016.  Pupils can come to school wearing their own clothes if they bring in some loose change from home.  Look for spare pennies and change about your house and send it in so we can donate to UNICEF to help  keep  children safe who are currently living in war zones.

Illness

Unfortunately we have a viral infection lingering in school.  Should your child arrive at school and  have a high temperature, rash or cold and flu like symptoms we will send them home.  If you are taking your child to the GP, it is advisable to let the GP know that there is a virus in school.  Some of our children and young people have underlying health care needs and if they contract a virus this may lead them to being admitted to hospital.  The school are taking additional precautions re health and hygiene procedures following advice from the school nurse.  If you require further information or need advice please contact our school nurse, Karen Muir, you can contact her on 01294 272802.

Music Therapy

Haysholm were delighted to welcome Janette Montague, a very experienced  music therapist to our school this morning.  Janette will be working with all of our children over the next couple of months providing music therapy.  I popped into observe some sessions today because I have never had the chance to be involved in this therapy in all of the years that I have worked in Special Education.  It was very interesting and it was lovely to observe Janette having a ‘conversation’ through music with some of our children and young people.  I look forward to popping in again as the project develops over the next coming weeks.
