Thank you to Mr Cooper who participated in the above for the second year in a row to raise funds for the school. This year he improved his time and managed to complete the run in 2 hours and 44 minutes. The funds raised will go towards the purchase of a new minibus. What fun we had on Friday 23rd September. Instead of wearing ‘Jeans’ for Genes, we decided to do the ice bucket challenge to raise money. Mrs Bennett, Mr Law, Mrs Kelly and Mrs Gribben were put forward for a soaking. All of our children and young people participated by helping to set up the activity, choosing who they wanted to soak and we even covered a little numeracy through filling the jugs very full!!! Most of all we had the best of fun and we raised £80.
Well done to RT who has been chosen by his peers to be this session’s school captain. RB has been elected as Vice Captain

They will both be given a number of special jobs to carry out throughout the session.
Just a reminder that the above will be held in Haysholm school at 7.00pm. The Director of Education will deliver a short presentation and answer any questions asked by those in attendance. All welcome.
RB – For confidently making her own way to class on arrival to school in the morning.
KS – For consistently naming all of the basic symbols that staff use on their lanyards.
JW – For good participation in setting up the lunch hall as part of his work experience.
CMcC – For reading and naming timetable symbols.
JT – For taking responsibility for his own timetable and putting it up in the morning.
Finally to KR – For making good progress in using a visual schedule at lunch time to promote his independence in tasks.
Today your child will bring home the proposal document relating to the proposed new ASN build that will be situated next to Auchenharvie Academy. The proposed new build will replace the 4 existing special schools in North Ayrshire. Please take time to read the paper and share your views as to whether this proposal should go ahead. A number of statutory meetings will take place including one to be held in Haysholm on 29th of Septemer from 7 pm to 8 pm. A number of selected pupils from the school will also participate in having their views heard about the proposal. More information to follow …

This year Mrs Gribben nominated RT and RB for School Captain. Mr Law constructed a polling booth for Friday so everyone could make their choice of who should take on the responsibility for the session. The votes are in and the winner will be announced tomorrow at assembly.
Just a reminder that the above will take place tomorrow, Tuesday evening. However if you cannot make it then feel free to contact your child’s class teacher to make an alternative arrangement. There will be a crèche available should you require it.
