Careers Day 01.05.15

DSC01412 DSC01383 DSC01394 DSC01368 DSC01367 DSC00718 DSC00715  As part of Senior Phase pupils in Bute and Arran Classes all had fun at Careers Day learning about photography, body paint, hairdressing and flowers on Friday 1st May. We worked with staff and students from Ayrshire College and utilised the talents of our own Mrs Kelly for Floristry.

All pupils participated well and  had a fun morning.

Learning Rounds

Selected staff from the secondary department participated in ‘Learning Rounds’ on Tuesday morning.  This is part of our self-evaluation to assess the progress that we have made in developing a Total Communication environment within the school.

Mrs Mair organised and facilitated discussion about: use of signing, symbols, transitions, use of language etc.  Everyone who participated thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it has helped us agree an action plan and next steps that will inform our school improvement plan.

A second session will take place on the 19th May when staff from the primary department will observe learning in the secondary classes.  This will give us an overall picture of how we are doing across the school and how we can make learning even better for our children and young people.
